Any more recovery time for TVT with TAH/BSO

Hi, I am going in on this Wed. 8th, having a TAH/BSO,
Culdoplasty, TVT, cystoscopy/
Does it take longer to heal from the extra repairs, or is the recovery about the same either way?

Hi Char,

Did your doctor give you any indication of how long he expects your recovery to last? Everyone heals at their own pace and so the only advice I have is to give yourself the time that you need to recover. Hopefully, someone around here who had the same type of hysterectomy as you are having and repairs done will be able to share their experience.

Best wishes for a successful recovery and an uneventful recovery! s

My doctor tried to make everything sound so simple at my pre-op appt. like he was reading a script or something.

He made it sound like I would be doing jumping jacks in a day or two.

Hi Char,

I didn't have all the repairs that you are scheduled to have, and had a TVH instead of a TAH/BSO, but I can tell you that you definitely won't be doing in a couple of days.

"Normal" initial recovery for a TAH/BSO is at least 6 to 8 weeks, and you continue to heal for several more months. As Deb has already said, we all recover at our own speed, some faster, and some slower.

Have you read the Pre-Op Hints and the Post-Op Hints? They are full of great advice that will help you to prepare for your surgery and recovery.

Also, please go back into your control panel and fix your surgery date - it says January of 2005.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers for a successful and uneventful surgery and recovery.
