bladder infection diagnosed/fistula possible?

I got up today and went pee and the t.p. was all pink, called my
gp and got in right away. It turns out I have a urinary infection. I told him about the air bubbles I still get in the vagina,(my gyn laughed when I told him about the air bubbles)
and I think I may have urine coming out of the vagina. my
gp is not willing to rule out a fistula. So I am taking the medicine
and have an appointment to see him in two weeks, and we'll
see if the infection and leaking are gone, and if the air bubbles
are still there. He did a vaginal exam with the spectrum (the gyn
at 6 weeks only did the finger/glove thing) said he couldn't see
any holes, but that they can be very small, as we all know.

I feel a little better, the infection explains why I've been feeling, the way I've been feeling.

I was thinking maybe I should try the tampon test and vitamin
during these two weeks and see what happens.

Hi, Renee!

I am so sorry to hear you may have a fistula; they are not much fun. OK, so they are not any fun. But, they are fix-able! I would suggest if your gp tells you he suspects you really do have a fistula, have him send you to a good urologist, one who has had experience with fistulas as they can be a bit tricky to fix.

Hang in there, kiddo. With any luck maybe it really is "just" a bladder infection you are dealing with.

Keep us posted how you are doing!

bladder infection diagnosed/fistula possible?

Hi Renee..

In my experience, I was treated for bladder infection by my g.p prior to my fistula (which I managed to self-diagnose via this website, thank heavens!)..

I went back to my g.p. after the meds were done & said "ok..still leaking..is the bladder infection not going away or what". He said 'Um, no, the bladder infection would be cleared b/c you took the meds..there's something else going on'.

So he sent me back to my gyno who didn't want to admit to 'doing anything' and when I'd mentioned fistula (that I'd heard about on here) he said 'Not possible. I didn't touch your bladder and besides, I've never caused one of those in 30 years.

So I found a great uro&uro gyno & managed to force a referral out of my gp & guess what..fistula!

I've also read that bladder infections are more common in those who have fistula.

Just my thoughts...praying you get some answers soon!

Hugs to you!

bladder infection diagnosed/fistula possible?

Vaginal air bubbles! I cant believe I just read that. I am feeling that too! What does it mean? (if anything) I have developed a cystocele that is just driving me crazy. It is very painful and the only time I get relief is when I am lying down with my feet up.
Also wondering how you felt with your bladder infection before you actually saw blood in your urine? Trying to rule out the pain I have.....
Thanks

bladder infection diagnosed/fistula possible?

It hurt really super bad at the pubic bone area, and pain meds did not help at all. I could only pee in dribbles, and it hurt. I was in the bathroom all time, and always felt like I had to pee. I also felt nausea(sp?) off and on, and really run down. I leaked urine alot, especially at night.

I wish I knew what those air bubbles were too. MY reg dr is worried about a fistula, not sure what kind. It's so good to know that I'm not the only one with those bubbles. I don't know what to make of it. It would be great to keep in contact with you. Whoever finds out first what it is can let the other know.

bladder infection diagnosed/fistula possible?

I had my urine rechecked and it came up clean. The ultrasound showed fluid on the side I keep getting pain in. My reg dr. is going to send me back to the gyn who did my surgery. I still think I'm leaking urine though, undies get damp alot and have spots sometimes. It has that smell like urine. When I did the tampon test the top was pink and brown and like it was watered down with something. (I have been spotting too-and sometimes that seems watered down too). I know all this sounds gross the way I'm explaining it, but I know you understand.

bladder infection diagnosed/fistula possible?

Hi, Renee..

I was wondering if you got in to see your doctor yet, and what they decided?

I did have a fistula, and I not only felt air bubbles, but sometimes felt air coming out the urethra when I urinated.

Hope you find some answers soon!

bladder infection diagnosed/fistula possible?

Hi Dee,
My reg. dr. told me Friday that either his nurse or the gyn's nurse would call me today (Monday) for an appointment this week, but didn't hear from either one of them. If I don't hear by early afternoon tomorrow I'm going to call.

All of my air bubbles seem to be in the vagina, I don't seem to get them every day, but some days they are there alot. Something sure seems to pinch when I pee, and something sure seems to hurt down there all the time no matter what I'm doing.

I am very frustrated right now because I don't know what's going on. Sometimes I think I would have been better off not having surgery, because at least then I knew what was causing all the pain and problems and would get a break once in awhile.

Doppler, just read your message and I can sure relate to what you are going thru. Do you have a prolapse possibly? I do, and I wonder if you are experiencing the same things I am for the same reason.

Hi shark1962,

I have been wondering about a prolapse possibility. I'm not sure how they check for that, so I don't know if I've been checked for that or not.

Are they going to check you soon to see if you do have a prolapse for sure?
