7 Monther Checking In

Hey Ladies,

Just checking in at 7 months after my total, abdominal, full hysterectomy. I am doing this to give you ladies an idea of what life looks like down the road. Keep in mind all of our stories are different and you may not experience the same. Anyway, here is how I am doing. I would be anxious to hear how any other of my fellow 7-monthers are doing?

I still suffer from NO libido, zero, zilch. Big bummer.
I still suffer from insomnia.
I still suffer from joint pain and fatigue.
I still suffer a major weight gain of 45 pounds, nope not fun at all.
I still suffer from trying to figure out which hormonal therapy will work for me, as I either get very fluish from them, develop a lot of water retention or weight gain. My Doc is now thinking of trying the birth control pill. Who knows.
And, my belly is still huge and a bikini won't happen for some time.

Now, on with the good news.
NO pelvic pain, notta, zerro, zip. Yahoo. What a dream come true. No periods ever again.
I am starting to feel like I am getting my life back and want to put on make-up and go out on the town - it took me 7 months to get to that point.
Overall, for the first time ever, I feel like I made the right choice and am glad I made the decision. It took hell to get here, but I did it.

Ladies, don't despair, it is a long haul and a lot of perserverance. Keep trying new hormones. Don't let the medical staff brush you off. Fight hard for your needs and do not give up. YOu can do it!

Best of luck.

It is always nice to hear about the good side, the fantastic side effects of having a hysterectomy. I am so glad to hear you are in positive upbeat state of mind. I guess we all go through our struggles, with the thought in our minds that it will get better, at least that is what is getting me through.

I hope you find the right method of hormones for you soon. Good Luck to you!
