Noticed increased sense of smell!

Hey Ladies,

I am now 1 week post op and have noticed that my sense of smell is very acute! I can smell the bath room trash can in the hallway. I can smell that my daughter didn't brush her teeth this morning when she was sitting at the other end of the couch!

Any one else notice this side effect? It is making my stomache really feel yucky too!

I have also noticed that my nose just runs non-stop when I sit down to eat. Never had this problem before.

Just weird I quess! ~ Barb

Noticed increased sense of smell!

Are you on any HRT?

I've noticed that my sense of smell is most acute when I'm ovulating (in fact, it's the first thing I notice).

I've also heard that many pregnant women notice an increased sensitivity to smells, so I'm guessing it might be a hormonal thing.

Anyone else notice this?

Take care.

Noticed increased sense of smell!

Hi,

I kept one ovary (and it's working fine: just got out of PMS ) and I had also had this problem the first couple of weeks. A lot of smells seemed to be enhanced and lots of things that never bothered me before, smelled bad. :confuse:

Fortunately that went away around week 3.

Also had a taste problem with coffee and sodas: tried a to drink them a few times and couldn't stand them (used to love my morning coffee...).

At 6 weeks post-op, I'm probably over that now, but I figured since caffeine and carbonated drinks are not really good for you anyway it might be a good idea to quit drinking them altogether...

Did you have general anaesthesia? I figured it was either that or the pain meds causing these problems.

Take care,
