almost 5 weeks and totally exhausted

I was 5 weeks post-op from a TVH yesterday and I'm experiencing the same thing. I went back to work at 3 1/2 weeks, with the intent to take it easy and not overwork. I worked 3 days and then spent 2 days in bed. I felt better over the weekend and went back to work this week. My DH had to go out of town on business Monday afternoon until late Tuesday night. That meant I was on my own for driving 12 and 14 DDs back and forth, and returning to work.

By Wednesday morning I was on the phone in tears with my doctor's office. I was having horrible pain and pressure in my pelvic floor. I really felt like the driving was contributing to the pain. I wanted to find out if this was normal for 5 weeks. I was reassured that everyone heals at their own pace and my body was telling me not to drive and work full days yet. I've been working at home for the past two days (and not driving) and feeling much better.

I'm going to try to drive into work on Monday morning and only plan on working 1/2 days next week.

Thank you for all your responses. I feel much better today because I am not questioning how I feel. I am just accepting that it will take longer to get back to my running than I had thought. Part of the problem is that running and being active is my drug of choice. Usually when I am tired I push harder. I am aware that I can't do that in this situation. Thanks for reminding me that I am not the only one!

Be patient, I am almost 10 weeks post op and the last week or so my energy level has skyrocketed. I had a SAH BSO due to numerous fibroid tumors (30+) and severe iron defeciency anemia.

I am a Autmotive Sales Consultant and have been back to work since 12/1, I get tired toward the end of my 10-12 hour day and I have a few aches and pains but I haven't had this much energy without caffeine in years and years. I know that I still have to heal so I remind myself to take it easy. I have trouble with insomnia still and a few scary dreams but aside from that I feel great.

Take your time and take it easy. I went from a final week of considerable exhaustion to great energy--I'll let you know how next week goes. Have a great weekend!
