4 weeks tomorrow - I'm a wreck today!

I don't know what is wrong with me! I have done OK so far - posted my progress on other threads here. No major problems - just fatigue, some soreness, gas, guilt, etc. Today I woke up with a headache and a backache (back has been hurting lots the past week or so, right where the epidural was; has me worried). I just feel horrible. I have cried multiple times today - eyes are all red and puffy. I could also throw something through the window right now. Little things just set me off on crying jags. I feel so down! I have taken Prozac for clinical depression in the past, but it has been several years; I feel like I need it now! I have my ovaries - I don't know if they're still "asleep" and that's my problem or if they are working and this is PMS (I HAVE been eating lots of chocolate....). WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?

4 weeks tomorrow - I'm a wreck today!

I'm two weeks and two days and cried for about 2 hours last night. I know just how you feel. I didn't have an epidural, I had the black horror of morphine which was pretty horrible.

Hey, my female asian gynecologist said that another of her patient's had mentioned this site to her a few weeks ago. It wasn't you, was it?

4 weeks tomorrow - I'm a wreck today!

I know exactly what you're going through Grits. I am 3 weeks and have had similar meltdowns about 4 times since surgery. I think I'm doing great....then BAM! I'm back on the couch adn crying. Went into work yesterday for about 3 hours, paid dearly for it last night and today and it's a desk job for crying out loud. Our Xmas party is this weekend, not sure I'll even attempt going this year, not really in party mode.
Hang in there. We'll get through this together.
BTW, my doc started me on Lexapro for the anxiety as my first meltdown was in the hospital the night and next morning of surgery. Maybe an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety something is what would help.
Thinking of you.

4 weeks tomorrow - I'm a wreck today!

Sisters, hang in there. If you look back pages and pages, you will see that many of us experienced these same blue moods, and feeling out of sorts, and many times it was common around 4 weeks or so. Please talk to your doctors if this depression hangs on. Some sisters have been prescribed medications to help, and others have gotten through these bad days by encouragement here. Our bodies have gone through a lot, and healing takes a lot out of many of us. Know that we care and are praying for good recoveries and living "happily ever after" for each of our sisters. Carol <><

4 weeks tomorrow - I'm a wreck today!

CArol, I am glad to see you post here. I am 62, had surgery 4 weeks ago tomorrow and have turned into a WITCH (with a B)!! I hate it! My GYN told me my ovaries were shrunken and would not affect my moods, libido, etc.....I wonder if he could be wrong? I dont' cry, I snap! I really, really hope this corrects itself. I can't take HRT due to history of breast cancer in the family. What would some testosterone do for my libido? HELP!!!

4 weeks tomorrow - I'm a wreck today!

Mary Anne,

Would you be able to take herbal supplements?? I have heard that some get great results from those. I am 3 wks post op today and am 39 years old. I do not want to go on HRT so I am considering trying the supplements. Just thought maybe that would help. There is a supplement called Anew that I am looking into. They have a website, I believe it is www.anew.com but I am not sure. I actually found it through this website under the harmone jungle at the top of this page. Just a suggestion. Hang in there. Lori

4 weeks tomorrow - I'm a wreck today!

I, too, am almost 4 weeks and very moody. Sometimes I'm like a raging bull and all everyone can do is stand back. I have had fits of anger for no reason, terrible lows and crying jags at the drop of a hat. No hot flashes or night sweats...just mood swings. My doctor said if this starts to let her know but I don't want to go the HRT route unless absolutely necessary.
I've heard red clover and black cohosh are a help with mood swings.

4 weeks tomorrow - I'm a wreck today!

I know what you mean i am 4 wks today and 29 yrs old, my emotions are out of control i even found myself yelling at my kids for stupidest reasons so i appologized and asked forgiveness. I just don't understand i'm feeling great one moment and a different person entirely the next moment. Also i'm having bladder complications and noones listening to me about ran out of pain killers last week and now every time i do anything ANYTHING i end up in bed again crying with pain in abdomen cuff wall but mostly blatter i hated the pain killers but i would almost give my soul for one right now (alomost).

Everyone says just hang in there so that is what i'll do but i mean really is my vagina on the inside supposed to feel like it is going to explode or drop out of me at 4 wks aren't i spposed to be feeling somewhat better not 3x worse than the day i came home from the castle? Anybody has advice let me know?????????????

Meanwhile girl i will pray for all of us!!

I bought some black colash today but I havent started taking it yet. Going to call GYN to make sure it is o.k. I will let you know if it works. I havent had any crying spells yet. Got ticked off a couple of times but I did that before my TAH. I am raising teenage boys and that alone can make a person crazy!! HEE HEE

No, Carmen - wasn't me that mentioned this site to your doc, but sounds like she might be in the same office as my doc!

I think I will be calling my doc tomorrow and asking for an anti-depressant. I did have an anxiety attack in the castle, but I think that's because they didn't give me my regular meds while I was there. (I take 1mg of Ativan every night to prevent migraine/tension headaches - nurse decided I didn't need that in the castle! ) Clinical depression runs in my family and I can recognize it when it's coming on - however now it seems to have hit me full force! Must've snuck up on me while I was under anesthesia or something. It's not anxiety - it's depression. The Prozac worked pretty well for me before - just have to see what the dr. thinks would be good for me right now. It does help just to know I'm not alone and maybe this is just par for the course for some of us. So glad I have this sister support!!!!!!

lthomas - I raised a teenage boy and yes, that will drive you crazy for sure! I think God made teenagers so obnoxious so we're not sad when they leave.....
