Vaginal Itching

Hello Everyone,

I am 3 weeks post-op today and wondered if anyone has had vaginal itching? I have no discharge, just itching which seems to be worse in the morning and the evening. I had a TAH, including ovaries. I started on Premarin at 0.9 the day after surgery and really don't have any menopause symptoms. (Do these come later?)
Thanks,
Sonja

p.s., I love this website, so much valuable information!!! You are all wonderful!

Vaginal Itching

My vaginal itching without discharge was awful! I couldn't stop scratching. My dr thought it was low estrogen and put me on premarin cream twice a week. It has really helped a lot! I've had some vaginal atrophy and the cream works wonders for it. Good luck and take care during your recovery.

Vaginal Itching

Hi Ladies,

I am 1 yr post-op from LAVH/BSO and found that I had a lot of itching about a month or so after surgery. It turned out to be vaginal dryness. My DR put me on vagifem, which is a tiny tablet that is inserted vaginally. The estrogen stays in the vaginal tissues and it helped so much with the itching and urinary frequency. My instructions were to insert one tablet nightly for two weeks and after that three times weekly. I now only use it once or twice weekly. I remember how horrible the itching was and wearing jeans was so uncomfortable!!!!! The vagifem was wonderful; highly recommend it. Check with your doctor and see what they suggest for vaginal dryness.

Good luck ladies

Vaginal Itching

I had itching too, and it was a reaction to my pantyliner. I wore pads then liners 24/7 and I think the body just needs to breathe once in a while. Once I switched brands it got better.

Vaginal itching

Thanks everyone for your information.

I've just got up this morning and the itching is still there. I think i'll go to see my dr. I've been told that by my consultant that I can't have estragen because of pre-cancerous uterus tumour that I had TAH and BSO for. I too have been wearing panties 24/7 so it could be that I need to let my body "breathe" a little so i'll try this as well.

Thanks everyone for your help.
