Re: ok ladies! what did YOU do with your extra pads and tampons?

Well I gave mine to my daughter's dorm roomies who use tampons, I never used pads because I didn't like them. I would also suggest maybe donating them to a women's domestic abuse shelter. I bet they would appreciate them. Just a thought, good luck!!

Re: ok ladies! what did YOU do with your extra pads and tampons?

This one makes me laugh. Every time I find a stash, I give them to my teenage daughters and laugh my butt off! Then I become evil Mom and tease them that I NEVER have to use the stuff again. What a hoot! But I'm not the kind, nurturing mother type. :-) My girls say they are jealous, but they definitely want to be Moms one day so the trouble is totally worth it to them.

Re: ok ladies! what did YOU do with your extra pads and tampons?

I donated mine to female troops stationed in Afghanistan through a website called AnySoldier.com. They are a great site and constantly have troops that are in need of support. Some of these female soldiers are stationed in an area where you can't even get toilet paper, let alone feminine supplies. They soldiers are really grateful for the things that they get and love the letters and coloring pages that my daughters preschool class did and I included in my package.

Gave mine to my daughter...but saved a few to have a celebratory bon fire with my closest friends....I can't wait to torch a few tampons and pads!

Re: ok ladies! what did YOU do with your extra pads and tampons?

I liked the idea of donating them to a women's shelter; had not thought of that myself. I could save them for my daughter (who may not get her period for years!) My daughter is a pre-teen and let's hope she never needs those huge overnight heavy-flow pads! I am also for doing something creative with them. Summer art project anyone?

Re: ok ladies! what did YOU do with your extra pads and tampons?

What great ideas you ladies have come up with! I'm 15 days post-op and so happy that I didn't do anything with the pads & panty liners I had before my surgery. This may sound kind of dumb, but....I didn't realize I would need a few after the surgery. I guess it was wishful thinking....I don't know. Anyway, I'm now down to needing panty liners for the discharge. I plan on giving all my other pads & tampons to my daughter. If I didn't have a daughter, I would definately donate them to one of the places that have been mentioned in this thread. Thanks to all of you sisters for all the terrific ideas and advise!

Re: ok ladies! what did YOU do with your extra pads and tampons?

I gave up on disposables a few years back, used a Moon Cup and just tossed it out after almost a year. Kind of like saying goodbye to an old friend, but a friendship that had run its course

Re: ok ladies! what did YOU do with your extra pads and tampons?

I just passed mine down to my daughter although she won't wear pads but my other daughter will probably be starting soon (LOL!!) and will get to use them!

I love the idea of donating them. Will have to see what all is in our stash not being used and donate some.

Re: ok ladies! what did YOU do with your extra pads and tampons?

I had a bonfire, in the fireplace of course, and had a ceremonial burning of all af my tampon stash!!! It was very therapeutic!! No more periods..what a relief....It made me laugh and gave me some comic relief to dealing with this "stage" of my life. The pads..I kept a few..just in case and put the rest in my daughters bathroom..she will be 13 in 2 weeks. As a former girlscout..being prepared is still ingrained in my thinking...

Re: ok ladies! what did YOU do with your extra pads and tampons?

I donated most of my pads to the school I work at, a few packages went to my mom, and my tampons went to girlfriends who still have need of them. The students at my school are in 2nd & 3rd grade, but our school nurse told me that many of our girls start at this young age now and she always needs to have pads on hand. You might try contacting schools nearby and ask the schools' nurses if there is a need you can contribute to.
