Uses for Left Over Pads, Tampons, etc?

Of course this idea is just nothing short of silly ... but it's actually true.

My husband hunts, and one year while he was packing things for a trip he walked down the hallway with a couple of familiar pink packaged pads in his hand. Stunned, our 16 y/o asked him what in the world he was doing with her mini pads ... only to have him respond that they worked good if anyone in camp got cut.

She and I immediately looked at one another and smiled, and without speaking a word she went down the hall, stopped by the bathroom, and then met her Dad outside at his truck. In her hand was a few tampons - and, as she handed them to her Dad, she said, "Here, these are just in case anyone gets SHOT or has a nosebleed."!!

So - I'm guessing left over tampons could be considered a handy additon to just about any well-rounded first aid kit ... (But gustogal's idea has more overall merit!)

Tampons Left Over

Hey Ladies!!
I have the directions for Tampon Angels...they look adorable and seem easy to do...told the girls in the billing office at work that I was going to make them each one while I was home recovering. Can you see DH's face when he sees them drying before they get painted? He will think I lost it during surgery.
Actually I have them in a stack in my linen closet just waiting to bring to our social worker at work. There are three of us in the office and she will be the only left with "functioning parts" The nurse is having her TVH and bladder sling when I return from sick leave so........Dear Wanda will have much knowledge to draw from should she ever need it....
Gosh won't it be nice to not have to carry around feminine products all over creation. Everytime I change purses or pack a suitcase, there they are. I even found one the other day in my DS's bathroom...And think of all the $$$ we shall save...Maybe I will start one of those banks and deposit a monthly amount that I would have spent on pads and tampons...kinda like when you quit smoking and save cigarette $$

Lilly - I love your idea of stashing away *cotton remnants* money post-hyst! What a great thought!

This truly represents a handy few bucks a month that I could spend having latte and lunch with a gal pal - and then my hyst becomes almost like a gift that keeps on giving!

If I also kicked in the $ being spent on Dr visit co-pays and the prescriptions involved - which last month totalled over $300 - I could even foresee having that latte and lunch IN ANOTHER TOWN!

You ladies are wonderful!! You better stop though!! I'm laughing and my staples ache from it!! I love the hunting story!! I bet my Hubby could come up for a use for them! He is very inventive, he riggs up all sorts of odd contraptions.

As for saving the money! That is a great idea!! I was a two super tampon and an overnight pad gal, every 3 hours the first two days!! So there was a lot of money put out for supplies!!

I have the book, so I'll have to look up the angle thingys.

Thanks,
Patty

YES! I donated all my left-overs to our local transition safe house and they were most grateful!

Tampon Angels/

Please post the directions on how to make tampon angels!! I have got to make a bunch for the gang at work for Christmas!!! I can work on them while I'm recovering at home and have a good laugh while I'm doing it! And just think of the uses for the extra cabinet space when you clean out the tampons.

I have a sister who lives nearby. I donated all of my remaining pads and tampons to her but first, when I felt good enough after surgery, I came home and literally 'torched' one of the tampons. It was a happy farewell to know I'd never have to use one of those awful things again.

I have a 16 yr old daughter so they wont go to waste her, however I do love the evil eye she gives me once a month now since she knows I dont have to use then and she does. hehe!
