Ice or Heat at 4 wks?????

I am at about 3 wks post op. I have heard both things (heat and cold)...in my discharge papers, they suggested using a heating pad and many of my other friends who have had hysters have also said that they used their heating pad. I went to the doctor about a week post op and the nurse practitioner suggested a "cool" pack...not a "cold pack" (put a gel pack in the freezer). I have tried both and I honestly like the heating pad better...I feel it is more soothing and it relaxes me too. I don't know...maybe it's a matter of personal opinion. God bless.

Ice or Heat at 4 wks?????

I find that at the end of the day my tummy is still sore even at 4 weeks. I start out each night with one of those ice packs that you squeeze and they get cold, they last about 30 min. then I go right into the heating pad, it makes me feel almost like a new women and takes down some of the swelly belly too.

Ice or Heat at 4 wks?????

I'm 4 weeks post. I can't stand anything on my tummy, not even the sheets and blankets. I use the 3-way antibiotic cream 4 times aday on the incision. The 3-way also has that pain relief in it. Kind of feels cool and relieves the burn/sting. At times when it hurts, I still check to see if it opened!!! Eventhough it appears to be healed together and that rope feel is gone...it just feels like it's splitting open.

The swelly belly just hangs there with no relief. I can't even lean up against anything!! I put my very cold hands on my tummy...that all.

Are we havin fun yet
