Rosalie Called!

I was very surprised to hear from her and we had a great visit via phone. She sounds just as wonderful on the phone as she does here on the board.

One thing...She lives in NY and I live in WI. Everyone knows us Midwesterners don't have an accent, but she thought I had a Midwest accent. As we all pronounce things perfectly, I'm not sure. She has a great NY accent and it brought back memories of when I was working my police typist part time job. One of the officers came from Brooklyn and I just loved his accent.

Now Rosalie--that new chemo is going to work and blam! Any cancer cells that tried hanging around in there are right now receiving their nasty surprise!

What??? Me have an accent???? Us New yorkers may talk very fast and swallow some letters, but have an accent!!! Naw.......LOL

It was a wonderful phone conversation Ellen and although YOUR accent is kinda funny your voice is very sweet and soothing. Actually you did sound kinda like Karenann.

We will do it again sometime. It was a call I totally enjoyed.

Ellen and Cindy:

You are right. We midwesterners do not have an accent because the people on the news talk like we do!

What???? Sounds as if I am being ganged up on here!!

New Yorkers back down to no one and will always have the final word. LOL

We do not have accents....the rest of the world does though.

But that is not to say that we do not like your accents. Some are them are very interesting if we can figure out what you are saying!!

Only kidding ladies.. Hope we are not offending anyone.

"If we can understand one another"

If you ever hear a Wisconsin person say "wushagoogame" iot is a tad hard to understand unless youput it in contaxt. The Badgers have won and the beer drinker (anywhere from 6-12) is saying "It was a good game." That's the only WI accent there is.

As a former Wisconsinite, I too, thought everyone had an accent but us. I've since moved around a lot and now can recognize a WI accent anywhere! I finally realized it when the person sounded a lot like my sister and neice. It's subtle, but very clear when you've been gone. That said, I'm begining to pick up the local accent and now say Bal'more <grin>. Gotta speak like the locals! But I never could get the NY accent down even though I lived there for 12 years with an additional 10 in NJ.

Seriously, glad the two of you got together and had a good chat!
