Merdema or Silicone strips for scar....anyone??

I am 5 weeks post-op, my Dr recommended that I use Merdema or silicone strips for my vertical, 8 inch scar. Have any of you Sisters used any of this? I would love to know if they work.

I have a similar scar and I tried Mederma and I didn't think it helped at all. I am interested in hearing if anyone has tried the silcone strips also.
