Yecats30--Wow, glad to know there are others out there and that the bleeding was nothing serious. Thanks!

3 weeks post op TAH/BSO and BLEEDING!?

Hi Pam,

You're probably not back yet. My doctor's office returned my call. Doctor said pain is normal. She said bleeding (spotting) is normal... brown, pink or red. Gushing is NOT normal. Blood is due to granulation...healing of cuff. The RN said she didn't feel at this stage a stitch would cause bleeding as the stitches are disolving now. I haven't seen any. Doctor will check via pelvic exam for the healing of the cuff at the 6 week visit. So this version of bleeding is different than the office of Mikael's. Hummmm wonder if anyone really knows. Oh well, as long as it's normal... it's ok, I guess.

Office also called in a stronger hormone for me stating that my sleepless painful nights could be a sign that i need more hormone. I'm not sure about this. I think the pain has got me upset!

I'm anxious to hear what you found out. You have a few days on me but you were doing so well, I thought. Will wait to hear from you.

3 weeks post op TAH/BSO and BLEEDING!?

Finally back from an entire afternoon spent on this. First my GYN did an exam (it hurt!) and said my vaginal stitches were healing OK, but I was obviously bleeding from somewhere else. So she sent me to the hospital for an ultrasound--both abdominal and vaginal (and both hurt!). Dr. there wanted to do a CT scan instead because of the "nothing in the vagina" rule, but my GYN told him to have the tech do a vaginal (since she'd just had a look in there, anyway). Then back to my GYN's office to wait for her to return with the results of the ultrasound.

Long story short--she was concerned that the blood was pooling, but nothing showed on the ultrasound. Evidently I'm not healing as well as expected, and the little bit of activity I do must be "overdoing" it. So I just need to take it easy--cut down on stairs and long walks--and hopefully the bleeding will stop soon. I go back in one week, sooner if I keep bleeding. At least it has slowed down to spotting, so I plan to spend all day tomorrow in bed--or at least with my feet up! DH and DS will just have to wait on the princess hand and foot!

So the lessons are--

1) Bleeding is not always normal, and if there is more than spotting, you really should call your doctor to make sure blood isn't pooling.

2) We shouldn't push ourselves to do any more than we are 100% comfortable with. I made the mistake of comparing myself to others. Even though my activity was lower than I wanted it to be, I admit I was pushing myself a little because so many other HS's 2-3 weeks post op seem to be so active and have so few problems that I thought I was being a wimp. I probably should have paid more attention to the HS advice that we need to listen to our own bodies!

Thanks for the responses and the concerns. Now I'm off to the sofa!

well.. i've spent ALL day on the couch and I'm STILL spotting. Its got me concerned just because its been going on for so long!

I KNOW I've been doing too much though... My dd only weighs 24 pounds, but I'm sure that's 24 pounds that I really shouldn't be carrying around as much as I have.

I'm NOT having much pain though, and I've been sleeping on my side since I was still in the hospital. Do you ladies have a belly belt support thing? I actually took mine off Sunday because it was helping me feel so much better that I KNOW it was contributing to my overdoing it. Its back on today cuz I put myself into pain, but I'm medication free today and doing okay.:-)

Hi ladies,

This is so crazy! My surgery was 12/7 and I woke up bleeding this morning too! I got sooo depressed! I couldn't think of anything I really did to overdo it other than a couple minor things.

But I called my doc and he also said that it was probably the stitches dissolving and he wasn't worried at all. I happen to have my first post-op with him tomorrow so he said he'd take a look when I'm there.

I'll let you all know what he says, but it sure does feel good to know that I'm alone in experiencing this!

Take care all,

Lori

Hi ladies. I apparently am having the same problem. It's been nearly 3 weeks since the surgery and I still need to wear a sanitary napkin, more bleeding than just "spotting". Seems whenever I get on my feet it gets much worse. This was getting me very down but maybe it is more normal than I thought.

Wow! I just spoke with my doctor yesterday about the spotting, (all sorts of other problems)etc.. She basically repeated what your physicians said, and she'll check me on thursday at my first post-op visit.

I thought I was going nuts, because every time I would do something around the house, my pain would increase and so would the bleeding. So many of the Princesses were feeling great soon after their visit to the Castle that I began to feel like a slug .

Thanks Int'lPJ for starting this thread. Looking forward to reading more replies.

Good luck and
s to all

Quick question.....Has everyone had a doctors appointment before their 6 or 8 week check up? I was told when I was leaving the hospital to make an appointment for 8 weeks after my surgery. That there was no two week one or anything. Just wondering if that is rare?

Thanx!
