home from the castle!

Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to share my experience with you all...

I went the to hospital early Monday morning, where I was promptly yelled at by the admitting nurse b/c I was chewing gum. Well, no one had told me gum chewing was NOT allowed! Then she proceeded to ask my why I was having surgery. As if it was any of her freakin business! I told her I had recurrent cervical dysplasia, but I really wanted to tell her some smart *** comment.

So I get undressed and lie on the bed, and one of the nurses realizes I have a belly button ring. My doctor had failed to mention to me that I needed to have it taken out. I have had this thing for over 10 years, and the "old-school" ones require pliers to get them out. So after literally 7 doctors and nurses had tried to get the ring out, one of them finally listened to me and used pliers and pried it apart.

I walked into the OR with my own two legs, where I was given some IV drip and fell into deep sleep immediately. The next thing I knew, I was lying in the recovery room. Somehow, I was transported to my room, where my mom and dad were waiting. My doctor found a cyst on one of my ovaries, and it ruptured during surgery. When she tried to cauterize it, I started to bleed badly and I almost lost one of my ovaries, but she managed to save it.

I had a bad reaction to Percoset, it made me puke. But the nurses and staff were all so nice to me, and put up with my endless requests for warm blankets for my back, which was really sore. I feel soo much better than I had expected, and much more tired than I had expected. I was freakin nervous on Sunday, and today, I know I have done the right thing. I can't wait to get back to normal, and I thank all of the Hyster Sisters for sharing their experiences. I needed them badly on Sunday night, because I was scared to death to do this alone. My kids are in the care of a family friend until Friday, and my parents took me to and from the hospital and helped me out immensely. Between everyone, my surgery has been bearable!

Well, I have to go and drink some Metamucil. Things aren't moving too quickly down below yet. Thanks again for all your support, gals!

Jessica
