Besides losing my mind I'm losing my hair too!!!!

Oh boy I have alot of questions today ladies!I had a TAH/BSO on 12/08 and I have been on premerin ever since.I have noticed that I have been losing more hair than usual.I have just turned 30 and i'm frightened that I will lose all of it.I have very thick hair,it's not like i'm bald yet.Is thinning of hair normal with menopause? I am so confused right now nothing seems to make sense to me anymore. If it wasn't for this wonderful site I would be alone in my thoughts, and questions.I feel that everyone is thinking that I am all ok now because I had the surgery,no more pain. But what they al don't think about is that I am also still very young to be going through menopause and all these emotions.I can't keep up with myself anymore.
Oh boy I got off track there didn't I !!!!!

Hi KathyJune,

About the hair loss...here's something you may not have considered. Temporary hair loss can happen as the result of the anesthesia from your surgery. I also have very thick hair, and I lost what seemed to be quite a bit for awhile after surgery (no one noticed but me), but that all ended about 2 months post-op or so. I'd give this a little more time before you worry too much, as you're only 1 month post-op.

Of course, always call your Dr. if you feel very bothered by it.

My very best to you...

Linda

I too have lost a lot of hair since the surgery... I am hoping it was the anaesthetic and that things will get back to normal soon. Hugs,

I thought I was the only one!

I have been losing hair too and wondered about it. I thought maybe since I wasn't taking birth control pills anymore, but didn't think about the anesthesia. With my baby fine thin hair, I can't afford to lose any. It's good to know others experienced this, and it probably will end.

Ladies go to a beauty supply or your stylist and get a clarifier. One that washes the meds out of your hair. This really helps.

Add me to the list of sisters losing hair! I've been using neurogena shampoo and conditioner for the last week, which is good at removing residue. It's made the hair I have left look and feel better!

Hair Loss

I am with you on the hair loss. I have a very thick head of natural curls that ride me about mid back, and I was losing A LOT. I am 3 weeks post op so i called the dr. He said this was normal due to the anestesia and to get a clarifying shampoo to use once a week(neutrogena) and a revitalizing to use daily. He also recommended that I start taking a vitamin supplement of B6. He said to make sure that it had amino acids in it too to ensure absorption, but that B6 was very good for strong healthy hair and nails. I hope that this info helps everyone, i know that it did me considering that it has taken me a long time to grow this head of hair and I was going crazy thinking that i would lose it.

Hey all you guys!
Please go to the Hormone Jungle and read the first reply I gave to BAdela on "Dry Skin." I know your problem isn't dry skin, but what I had to say targeted hair loss also!
Sincerely,
Carole (Spot)
