3 Weeks in recovery

I, too, had a TAH on 12/6 and this week hasn't been so good. My swelly belly is feeling very tight, bloated and sensitive to touch or sitting. I feel like I should walk more but even that feels uncomfortable because of the big belly.

Also, I am feeling very lazy and just want to stay in bed and read and watch TV or movies. So, that's what I've been doing since Tuesday except for walks around the house.

Hopefully, next week we will be feeling better. Overall, there has been much improvement since surgery day! It's just that some days seem better than others.

Hang in there. Cheers to a brighter New Year!

3 Weeks in recovery

I am so glad I read this thread. I had a radical abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago tomorrow. This week has been awful. I can't sleep because of the severe leg cramps and the right side of my tummy is hurting really bad also. I can't remember the last time I slept with out wakeing up every hour cuz of the pain. I wonder what the deal is with the leg cramps any way?? All I know is it sure is nice that there are other women going through the same thing as me at the same time. Now I don't feel like a wimp, not if all of you are having the same problems!! Hope next week is beter for all of us.

3 Weeks in recovery

While I am not 3 weeks exactly, I am about 17 days out. I really think I over did it the first week. I came home on Wednesday, went shopping for 3 hours on Thursday, napped a bit for the next few days and got thrown into the holiday. (I know.. I know).

This week I am just exhausted. I tend to sleep a lot. The night sweats keep me up off and on during the night, as I am on no HRT due to Endo.

Today I had to get to the clinic to sign some FMLA paperwork for my husbands work. So, I got up, got showered and dressed. I did my hair (well sort of... blow dried it and curled the ends a bit)... and put on a bit of make up to feel like ME again. I went, signed the papers, came home and thought I had run a race. I was wiped out.

I don't understand, as my first two weeks, I was not this tired. I just don't get it. I thought it would get easier and not harder. Now that I type this, and think about it.... in the beginning I was not all that bad off in the hot flash department and night sweats... and those really are keeping me up. Maybe that is it. I don't know. Maybe I was expecting too much from all this.

I am on Iron for anemia, as I was bleeding heavily in surgery. Maybe that has more to do with it than I figured. I am not sure.

I tend to spend my days doing research on the computer about the BSO and Endo. (also eBay..hehehe). I putz in the kitchen a bit. I cook... nothing big yet, but I do manage to get dinner made most nights. I watch cartoons (ack) with my kids and chat on the phone or email. I read some and really not too much else.

I feel bad, as my husband works all day, and I am not used to being at home like this again. I was a stay at home mom for 3 years and loved it. Now I work 30 or so hours a week when I work... and sitting home, I feel as if I am not doing "my fair share". Might this be some depression?

Anyhow... this is how I am doing right now. Sounds like we are all in the same boat. Just taking it easy letting our bodies do the healing we need.

3 Weeks in recovery

I had my surgery on the 6th also. I came home on Wednesday following the surgery and have taken it as easy as possible for the first 2 weeks, even with 12 extra people here for the holidays! They did all the work! Now there are only 2 guests left and I'm feeling really good. I have a little bit of pain in my "swelly belly" area, but it's not persistent. I'm still taking Motrin, but not on a regular basis and have found the 2 extra strength Tylenol seem to keep the pain down. I keep waiting for those exhausted moments -- but haven't had any. The day after Christmas, I took my first nap since 2 days after arriving home. I just continue to thank God and my praying friends for my quick recovery.
