Granulated tissue after Hysterectomy

I had a total hysterectomy in August of 2004 and since January I have been suffering with the worst granulated tissue. My doctor keeps removing it and it keeps growing back. I know when it is back because intercourse is EXTREMELY painful and then I get this terrible abdominal bloating and pain. Have you ever heard of this? My doctor doesn't seem too concerned but it is killing my sex life!!

Stubborn granulation

Hey there, meetzea.

It wouldn't hurt to keep bugging the doctor about that. 5 months I know I was still hurting (it still hurts sometimes if I lean my stomach onto something!), but it would be good to know that it's a "normal" reaction.

Hope it's better!

Hi Meetzea

Sorry to hear of the problems you have had to go through. I had a radical hysterectomy Dec.5,2002 and only have overies left. I was reading your post and just now i am experencing bleeding after intercourse. Could you tell me what granulated tissue is. This is just starting to happen to me and i am tying to get as much info on whatever i can. I can't get to see my doctor till next week.

Thank you

Stubborn granulation

Hi Meetzea,

Sorry to hear that you are having a tough time with granulated tissue.
You posted that your doctor keeps removing the tissue and it comes back.
How has he/she been removing it?

At one point, my doctor was considering laser treatment, or freezing it because mine was at the corner of my cuff and hard to get to, but as you might have read, mine ended up being caused by a prolapsed fallopian tube.

My doctor told me usually granulated tissue isn't painful when touched, but I would practically jump off the table when she touched it (and cry when she applied the silver nitrate).
She even did a biopsy at one point (thinking it might be the tube), but all she got on the biopsy was the granulated tissue, not the fallopian tube.

I hope you find an end to this terrible cycle.
Please keep us posted.
Good luck!
