How do I get the sticky bandage gunk off my abdomen???

Hi all,
I'm just 1 week post-op today (surgery was Dec. 21st) and I am feeling FABULOUS! I love reading what you all have to say and the fact that you don't mince words and that anything is fair game has made this fourm so valuable to me. I have my post-op appt. Jan. 4th and many of the posts here have given me more questions to ask.

I do have something I need an answer to if possible. I still have some of the gunky bandgage stuff on my abdomen. I have not been wearing any bandgages since day 2. Dr. had me remove them when I took my first shower. But the gunk is still there and I'm wondering how to remove it safely. I don't think it's ON the incision, but close by around it, so wanted to be careful.

Any ideas???
Thanks, Virginia

oil! baby oil, cooking oil, olive oil, not engine oil lol
oil breaks down sticky stuff and you should then be able to peel away the sticky residue in gunky lumps (eww but effective lol) and the oil massaged into your belly will treat your skin too, and not bother your incision either.

Hi,
Yes I remember that sticky business, That bugged me the most. So when I was in the hospital, My husband helped picked it off as much as he could. I just couldn't reach. How funny it must of looked.............
And after time it will come off with each shower , Just time. But yes it bugs you............... Good Luck, and time ...............

Try soaking it with some nice warm water and after a few minutes it should peel off nicely.
