Sitting.......

I, too, was encouraged to sit upright in the hospital and at my discharge discussion with my dr, was sitting cross legged on my hospital bed. My dr's "test" for driving privleges was if I could raise my knees up toward my stomach without any difficulty (like a high stepping march). I was able to do this actually BEFORE I left the hospital, but waited for my driving rights until my post-discharge appointment a week later.

I do have a lot of swelly belly issues, but I also have a toddler and an elementary school age child home for the holiday break, so I've been MUCH more active than I've recently found out I should have (i have an EXCELLENT dr, but when I was discharged from the hospital, the nurse couldn't find the paperwork that she was supposed to give me about at-home activity, so she went from "memory" and apparently left out a lot of stuff )

My advice would be that if it hurts, don't do it! As long as you listen to what your body tells you, you're probably not hurting anything.
