Anyone released for sex before 6 weeks?

I am 5 weeks post op today. I went to my Dr yesterday and she lifted all restrictions for all activities including sex. I'm ready but SCARED. Was anyone else released this early by their Dr? Did anyone actually have intercourse after only 5 weeks? I would like to hear any sisters experience, good or bad?

Anyone released for sex before 6 weeks?

Hi Jaaj,

I was at my 5.2 week checkup and was released for regular activities. When I asked about sex the doctor suggested waiting until the following week before resuming that. I'm a bit nervous to "do it" the first time. Suppose it's the fact that I know there are sutures in my vaginal cuff from removing my cervix. Eeks - I'm nervous about. Aren't you? LOL

sex again

I think it is normal to be nervous-I was so protective of my abdomen up until about 5 months post op-I would put my hands over it even when out in public so no one would bump it, and it was totally healed.

Just because you are cleared for sexual activities doesn't mean you have to engage in them. Although the doc told me we should use it to help stretch it-that having intercourse would help the whole healing process. But I wasn't cleared until after seven weeks because of the rectocele repair needing more time.

My doc's advice was to take it slow and gentle-use lots of lubrication. My advice is to not to worry too much if it isn't wonderful the first few times.

I see that you had a LAVH, so that might make a difference. I had a TAH and I was released at 5 weeks and had no problems at all. But just because you're "released" doesn't mean you HAVE to do anything yet. Once you are cleared by your dr., you will probably know if you are ready or not. When you do proceed, take it easy (This is NOT the time to bring out your Kama Sutra moves!) and as some others have said, make sure you are well-lubricated. If you're worried whether an "O" will hurt, it shouldn't. It's normal to feel a few minor "after twinges", but nothing that should bother you. For me, it was such a relief that everything still "worked".

Anyone released for sex before 6 weeks?

Believe it or not I was released for sex at my 3 week post op appointment. Doc said "intercourse should not disturb anything in there." Did have sex-some pain. Now 7 weeks post op- still some pain.

I'm impressed, dixiet! You must be a good healer. I think I'm going to "save myself" for New Years! LOL

Hubby has waited this long - what's another few days.

Six weeks today!

Anyone released for sex before 6 weeks?

At my 2 wk post op appt. I asked my doc about other methods (oral and self stimulation) and he gave me the go ahead as a matter of fact he said "that night if I felt like I wanted to"! Penetration was definately out until after the 6wk exam though!
I still haven't been ready yet for the other methods, but have been having some dreams that are beginning to make me anxious! I hope that is a good sign!

Take it slow and enjoy!
