question about cervix

I had my cervix removed, and that it was closed by sewing in a vaginal cuff. I know that all the tendons that held the uterus had to be attached to something inside. I don't know if they actually use the cervix for that or not.
You might want to request a copy of your surgery report. Mine was very detailed as to what was done. It might answer more questions for you.
Take care!

question about cervix

I am not sure if I totally understand the question. If you are asking if they removed the cervix if they sewed you shut....yes, they stitch the vagina together where the cervix once was creating a vaginal cuff...if this is not what you were asking, please let me know.

question about cervix

If I remember correctly she said she sawed my cut-off of the uterus to the inside of my cervix. She used my cervix as a base to stich the uterus neck to. I thought she would have just sawn it closed making a cuff above the cervix, but not attacting it to my cervix.

I remember when she told me after surgery I was think how stupid that was because the cervix is a moving muscles and now I'm going to have problems.

I had forgotten she said that until my very painful ultrasound yesterday. That is why I'm asking is it normal for a doctor to do that with the cervix that is kept.

I will ask my new doctor when I talk to her but I was wondering what others have had done that kept there cervix.

question about cervix

That's ok. i'll try again.
The uterus sits above the cervix. To remove the uterus one needs to cut above the cervix or below it.
She made the cut above the uterus to remove it, but instead of just colsing it together she sawed it to the cervix muscle its self. creating scar tissue and the uterus's neck to grow to my cervix.
Does that help clear up what I'm saying?

question about cervix

Okay, she removed your uterus and she stitched the cervix together?
Would someone that kept their cervix help me here....LOL
i am sorry Weezy, I am just not getting it. I know where the uterus and cervix is , etc. etc....but ifshe removed the uterus, I can't see why she left the neck of the uterus and stitched it to the cervix. I am glad you are goign to have this checked out cause it doesn't make any sense to me why she would leave the neck of the uterus. What usually happens is the entire uterus is removed, neck and all and the cauterize the cervix so there is no opening anymore. So I am not undertanding why she did this and I guess that is why you asked the questoin to b egin with and I have been of no help just more confusion

question about cervix

You were a help I didn't know that they "cauterize the cervix". Now I have some researching to do. Thank you!

I think I was her first one that said they wanted to keep their cervix.
