Anyone have new hair coming in on their HEAD?! (kept ovaries)

Every now and then, I (and probably all of us) get a bunch of new hair growth on my head. In the last month (I'm 12 weeks post op today), I have noticed a new batch of baby hair that is probably 8-12 weeks old - suspiciously coinciding with my surgery. I kept my ovaries so I'm not on HRT, but I'm wondering if my ovaries overcompensated or something (my doc said 5% of the blood supply to the ovaries comes from the uterus). Anyone else get a bunch of new hair growth on their head following surgery?? Thankfully, this is the only spot on my body reacting this way!

Hi Lisa,
I am assuming you are talking about the top of your head? I got hair growth but it is under my chin....My DS keeps telling me to go shave. I told him I could grow a better beard faster than he could!! Oh and a couple new ones where my sideburns are also!!

Hugs from the hairy lady!!

Do you suppose the new hair is replacing the hair you lost when you made the stressful decision to have your hysterectomy, not to mention the waiting ???
My hair had been falling out badly and now feels thin. I'm 4 weeks post and I'm looking for new growth..

Hi,
I know there is an article in the post op articles about hair loss, but I know my hair dresser noticed my hair was thinner after my hyst and she said it was normal to lose hair after you have surgery. I have had lots of the little baby hairs coming in too.

I found this link in Checkpoints under 5-6 weeks post op.

I was losing alot of hair a few years prior to my surgery but to my happy surprise soon after surgery I no longer had to toss out handfuls of hair from my hairbrush and my hair was looking and feeling so much better. I'm on hrt so that probably has something to do with it. It just seems like my hair and skin are so much healthier now. Didn't anticipate that added benefit.

My hair was as dry as a bone for a
few weeks after surgery, then it decided
to fall out in clumps! Very worrying, although
I never got a bald patch or anything. Now it's
much better, I'm roughly 11wks post op and
my hair is back to being thick and shiny. So I
would say these are probably replacement
hairs that you lost (even though you might
not have noticed!) All the best, RaineX

Before surgery my hair was falling out in clumps. I stopped washing it every day because in the shower was the worst! This continued for a month or so after the surgery.
Now I have an entire new crop growing in along my hair line. Even my hair stylist noticed when I went in for a trim.

breakout and itching

Question: Has anyone had their hair/scalp breakout? I no longer require conditioner and in fact my hair/head itches all the time and this is all since the surgery. Any thoughts?

Karen -

I did notice that for the first month following surgery, my hair was oilier. That has gone away and all is back to normal - except of course all these new, wavy, baby hairs coming in just above my forhead that are wreaking havoc with my bangs!

Mine is replaced with grey!

Hey!
Previous to my surgery I had a few greys sprouting here and there. I have a lot of hair in the drain after a shower. Im only 30 years old, I think it runs in the family,my sister had quite a few grays!
