Who else had their appendix removed?

I did. I wasn't expecting that, but the doctor said it was "juicy" so he took it out during surgery.
Now, I'm finding that it's actually quite common.
Who else?

Who else had their appendix removed?

They can't find mine

They 'think' it was stolen by the Dr who did my first ever Lap, but can't find the notes. It was either then or when I had my tubal done.

No one knows ...

So if I am dx with appendicitis, I want to see there faces when they can't find it

Who else had their appendix removed?

Mine is gone now too! This summer, the pain was so bad my Primary Care doc sent me to the ER for probably appendicitis - they didn't see anything wrong with it - even with CAT scan.... when my surgeon opened me up last week, he said the appendix was covered in Endometriosis, so it went the way of the uterus, too. It is somewhat gratifying to know that it wasn't all in my head! Of course, now it's about recuperation.

Another Hyster Sister replied to my inquiry about how long is recup after the double whammy, and she said she went back to work half days at 8 weeks.

Hope you are feeling better soon! I am relieved to be vertical once more and online.

Who else had their appendix removed?

I can't wait till my MD apt tomorrow. I would think he would have told DH if he took mine... but who knows. I hope I lost that, as he said I was covered in Endo. Gosh it would be nice to have that gone. DH had a GB attack and due to diabetes, he was sicker than sick. They put him in the hospital 3 days before they would operate as he was so infected... they wanted him in continuous antibiotics before they went at it. It was a nightmare.

So... I too hope mine is gone. hehehe. One less useless organ to worry about in the future.

My neighbor told me when she had her TAH many moons ago they took her GB and her Appendix. Woudn't that be nice? I think the spleen is the only other optional organ in the body isn't it.,,,, or maybe a kidney could go and we'd be ok too...... LOL.

Isn't the human body complicated, and interesting too!

Who else had their appendix removed?

I had my appendix removed too, although Im not really sure why. My doctor didnt plan on doing that as part of my surgery, but ended up taking it when he got in there. He said that I had endo, but not the most common kind. So, what did I have?

Who else had their appendix removed?

Not really the same as I had mine removed 13 years ago but I do see a reccurring theme

Just after I turned 13 I had my appendix removed as it ruptured

then almost 13 years later I had my hyst because my uterus ruptured

Both case were emergency surgury, both times I went into hospital around 10am and was been operated on by 12 lunch!

Don't do anything in moderation!

Who else had their appendix removed?

I wanted to have mine removed. My surgeon looked for it, but it was hidden as "rectocecal", and it was determined that it could not be removed, well, at least not without causing major problems. So, it stayed.

Who else had their appendix removed?

3 little Green men took mine! LOL!!!

My GB Surgery/Tubal done in 1996 (Done at the same time) report stated nothing about removing my appendix. I faguely remember that surgeon saying he did not see it either? I have had no other surgery either. My GYN wanted to remove it as a courteousy (Sp?) and could not find it. In fact he said there is no scar tissue where it should be and he thinks that I was probably born without one after reading the other Dr's reports from other surgery. GYN laughed at the 3 Green men story I gave him when he asked if I knew I had one or not! LOL!

My GYN said its important that if I end up in the emergency room with abd pain to let the Dr there know that I did not have my appendix removed during my surgeries. He said, there is a possibility it could be somewhere inside that he did not see it? So, I'm not to take a chance to have it overlooked and end up with appendicites if it is still hiding in there. I think the GYN is right that I was born without one, who knows maybe I evolved to a super human! LOL!

Who else had their appendix removed?

I did. That's actually how they found my endo. It had perforated my appendix causing my appendix to rupture and a bad infection. It did not show up on CAT scans when they were looking for my appendix. The surgeon didn't even know it was endo he thought I had cancerous tumors. Fortunately not. Ironically, I had an appointment that week to find out what was going on because I was having bad cramps all of the time even when I didn't have my period. After finding out about the endo it all made sense for how I had been feeling for sooooo many years.
