Hints for going back to work

MY TAH was 10/22 (I'm 10 weeks out) and I finally went back on Monday. I was soooo worried and stressed., so much so I seriously talked to DH about quiting when I was about 5 weeks postop. DH basically reacted.... and I realized I needed to work for a few more years ..so, I decided to go back...

I was sooo surprised by the love that was not only expressed to me but that I felt towards everyone else . I didn't realize how much everyone meant to me, let alone how much I meant to everyone else. Don't get me wrong - there is still that wonderful boss I'd like to punch in the nose*punch* !!

Here are a couple of things that are helping me adjust...

0. Talk to a good friend before work and during if possible to keep from overreacting...I almost burst into tears this morning over something silly - dh helped me calm down.
1. Wear VERY comfortable shoes.
2. Drink lots of caffiene and eat lots chocolate(oops...not good for you - Iknow...but its progress not perfection!)
3. Leave work on time - or close to on time...
4. Come home and go straight to the couch.
5. Don't cook for at least the first week after starting work...treat yourself like you just came home from the castle.
6. Go to bed early, early, early....
7. First weekend home do nothing.
8. Pray alot - seriously - remember you aren't alone and check in with hyster sisters to stay connected and remember you are still recovering even though you are back to work

What I've found is each day I am so much better - just like each day after surgery.

So, hang in there you will make it too.

Love ya,

Shelly
