I am so mad!!

Thank you all for your replies. It is nice to know that ya'll are there for me when I need it.
I set my alarm for 8:30 this morning so I could call the GP's office and maybe get in, I spoke with the nurse (they all know me well there ) and told her that i needed to come in and speak with the doc. She put me on hold and then the doc got on the phone. I explained what was going on and she said that she was too busy to see me today, but she would leave a script with enough of the percocet to get me through til monday and then I will come in Monday and we will get things "straight" until my appt with the PM doc.
I hung up the phone and cried. First I cried because it looks like she is going to help me...then I was crying because I heard myself talk to her and I sounded desperate...I hate that I have to feel that way about my meds. She was shocked at the GYN's behavior in re: giving me meds til my appt. and that they wanted me to see someone else that could get me in sooner. She said I had every right to seek someone who specializes in this field and that I shouldn't have to just see "someone" because they can get me in sooner. She is not happy wiht them right now. Hopefully she will also call the PM doc...I don't think the GYN's office expressed the urgency, I will call next week as well, and I am already on their cancellation list, but new patient appts hardly get cancelled.
I am sure that the NP was told by the doc, no more scripts..he is out of town.
Dorrie----I am not asking for anything different then what they were already giving me for the past 2 months, so I shouldn't have to plead my case in person..>I am not asking for more than what they were already giving me.
I just can't believe that after giving me these strong meds for over 2months that they would just cut me off and let me withdrawl and not have anything or go to this other doc who i am sure is not a specialist in what I need....as far as I know the PM doc I have the appt with is the only one around here. I called alot of them to ask if they even had experience with chronic pelvic pain and all of them said no...they mainly do ortho. problems like back pain etc.
So why should I be punished because I want to see someone who only does what I need to see her for?
If I thought for one second that this would happen I would have seeked her out before now. So it sounds like my GP will help me. I am going to take the copyof my medical records from this doc and I am going to empty my med bottles (lock up the meds) and show her that I am not making up what they were giving me.
AGain, thanks to everyone who responded...it is nice to have you all here

Marian:

First, I want to make sure you know that I agree you have been treated at best irresponsilbly by your gyn, if it was in fact your GYN that said, cut her off without handing her off to a new doctor.

I agree that you should demand to talk to the GYN as soon as the GYN gets back in town. Let the GYN know that you called your GP when the NP would not help and what has been written for you, that you are seeing her on Monday, etc. When you see the GP, have her write a letter to the GYN and the new PM about your interim care plan.

Keeping everyone in the loop will ease any discomfort that they might have of the possibility that you are having multiple doctors write you scripts. That is an issue doctors have to be very mindful of for the good of their patients and to keep themselves out of trouble. I am sure there is not a doctor out there that has not been deceived by a patient. Its not personal to you, its an overall risk factor that they have to manage.

If I were you, I would tell the GYN that you would appreciate any help in expediting the PM appt. Try not to get angry at the GYN because you don't know for sure if the NP was acting on the GYN's orders or just didn't want to bother with you. As they say, you catch more flies with honey.

BTW, good idea taking in the meds. My advice, take them in with all the meds you have on hand in them. Your GP needs to be able to see that you have only used what was prescribed. That is very important, as you can imagine. If you haven't been compliant (taken more or taken less), then you need to fess up immediately. They need to get you a medication that effectively manages your pain as prescribed.

Take care and I hope the day and the weekend pass quickly and that the GP helps you.

I am so mad!!

Thank you Michelle,

The GYN office has tried to get mein sooner, I went and picked up the script from my GP and took her the bottles and showed them to her, she said I didn't need to do that, she trusts me (we were friends before she became my doc).
She is going to call the PM doc on Monday and I am going to call them as well Monday and see what we can do.
I plan on talking to the GYN when he returns, but I will not be ugly even though I want to be sooooo bad..LOL
I will just let him know that it was unfair to cut meoff before I have my appt and that I don't appreciate the NP telling me to see someone else who can get me in sooner. I have found someone who specializes in chronic pelvic pain--why would I give that up?
I am just so glad that my GP is willing to get her hands dirty and help me out. If she wasn't then I was just going to just show up to the mental health facility and just wait for the DTs to start so they could admit me..
I want to thank everyone again for being there for me, I am not used to being on this side of things and it is nice to know that you are all there for me when I need you

I am so mad!!

Marian
That's what sisters are for. We are to help and offer support when we can.

For me, I think I worry more about the withdrawl. I took my patch off twice, and both times were not pleasant. It was the most awful feeling. It's not that you're addicted, but your body is. It is used to getting the medicine. I've talked with my acupuncture doctor about getting off the patch, if we ever get to a point where I can do so, and she said she's going to give me some special herbs to help with the symptoms.

Anyways....I'm glad that your gp has stepped up to the plate for you. And I do hope that she can pull some strings and get you in sooner to the pain clinic. It still amazes me at how long we have to wait for appts sometimes, we need help NOW, not 3 months from now.

I am so mad!!

I am so sorry your are dealing with so much pain. I was in constant pain for seven months prior to my hyst. My internist set me up with a pain control doc, and he is absolutely wonderful. He understands about living in pain, is helpful, and will prescribe what is needed.

My prayer for you is that you find a pain control specialist like mine and get some relief.

Best wishes--

I am so mad!!

marian--i am sorry that you are going through this.

do you know what the pain is from? if you have already explained it --you can feel free to email or pm, me.

anyway, i think i am about to follow you down this road.

i have been having some pretty bad pain--i spent all of new year's weekend in bed and was doubled over in pain at a meeting last wednesday.

the dr. suspects adhesions, but doesn't know for sure and advised me against having a laparoscopy and trying to get rid of it. he told me i should try and live with it. when i asked him what to do when the pain comes on he said, "take two advil every 4 hours."

YEAH, RIGHT!!! ADVIL?????

I don't know what i am going to do...byt i know i can't live in pain like this.
