6 weekers please share how you are :)

hi sisters...

i am exactly 6 weeks today....and on the whole. i am feeling good... i have no pain.....my incision is looking better than i thought after it had opened... no more discharge....and i am starting to have more energy. i went to doc last week at 5 weeks for post op check....my vaginal cuff is healed....and he said i could do anything .. just to listen to my body... the only restriction he had for me was to wait a few more weeks for intercourse.......unless i couldnt wait any longer... and when i do.. to have DH go easy.....we've opted to wait a bit longer....

My biggest problem is one i read about alot.. insomnia... i was a poor sleeper prior to my TAH/BSO.. but worse now.. and i don't nap. I am a nurse.. going back to work 1/17 to a busy neonatal ICU......12 hr shifts........i'm just gonna have to pace myself. and come home from work and collapse !!! the past few nites i have actually slept 4 hrs at a clip.. so that is an improvement for me.

i have found this site to be a wonderful support and information system both prior to my surgery.. and during my recovery. I also printed out information about this site... and gave it to my GYN who was very interested.

i wish all my " sisters " good health and a good recovery !!

ps.. i just cleaned out ALL MY FEMININE HYGIENE PRODUCTS !!

6 weeks me too

Hi Sisters'

I am 6 weeks today and went for my check-up too....
My Doctor told me I was healing GREAT.... I too can go back to a normal life but I was told to take it slow and listen to my body.
I did go back to work yesterday 1/2 days 6:30am to 10:30 am and I was ready to put my head on my desk by 8:30am... she said that was normal after all I had done.... As a matter of fact she has me on 2 more weeks of 1/2 days. ...

I can go back to sex when I feel like it.... My DH was ready 3 weeks ago.... But he said he will wait until I feel comfortable.. I am very nervous about the whole idea.....

I too have sharp pains on my right side which is funny because I was having such terrible pains on the left before the surgery. My Doctor said that is where my bladder is and there was soooo much leasions and a cysts there so that is where my pain is from. She said the bladder is spaming.... But if I hurt more to let her know ........

And the sleeping well I am really good at doing rooms over now I watch so much TV at night I can now redo any room in the house....

Well that is me and I truly hope you all get to feeling better I am so thankful that you are all still here and I have some place to go.

thanks for the wonderful sisters I have...
Your sister Susan

I'm also six weeks today. I've much more energy than I did just two weeks ago and I'm starting to sleep at night, sometimes 6 hours straight. That's about as long as my bladder will allow! My incision has healed beautifully although I had a little open area that showed up overnight Sunday. I had my 6 week check up Monday and Dr. said it has just an internal stitch that did not disolve for some reason and was making it way out. I kept it clean with peroxide for a couple days and this morning it was closed with no reddness or inflammation. I plan on returning to work January 31, I'm a nurse and work just part time doing homecare for hospice so I'm hoping it won't be too much to handle. I can make my own schedule as long as I work 20 hours a week. My biggest problem is I have such a swelly belly I can't wear any of my pants that I did before the surgery despite the fact that I have lost 15 since the surgery! I have no idea what I'm going to wear to work. I'm glad there are so many doing so well. I really enjoy coming here, I usually find answer to most of my questions before I even ask. This site has been a great resource and wonderful support.

I can't believe that tomorrow is 6 weeks already for me.
How far we all have come in that time period. I remember my first shower at home and sitting on the bed dripping wet and crying because I was too sore and had absolutley no energy left in my body to even dry myself. Then I remember being grossed out and repulsed by my 8 inch scar that was full of staples. I also remember feeling so grateful when my DH looked at the inscision for the first time and said "cool" instead of "ewww". Jeez I love that man
I have a lot more energy now but still get tired quick enough. Too bad that tired doesn't translate into sleep. Tonight I am trying Valerian root and I will have Lavendar and Clary Sage oils burning in a diffuser. If this doesn't help well then I give up. I am not napping anymore except when the headaches rear their ugly heads.
Supposed to go back to work next Wednesday but we will wait to hear what the DR has to say on Tues.
The only thing that I am worried about right are the results of the pathology tests as my surgery not only included a TAH/LSO but also staging was being done to determine if the cancer from my RSO surgery had spread.
So I will be keeping my fingers crossed and hoping and praying for the best.
Life does have a way of slowing us down doesn't it?
