I had an itchy belly and I kinda forgot about everything and just went to give it a good itch and just shoved my fingers right in against my still healing wound.............. Owwwwwwwwwwwwie owwwwwwwwwwwie

Up to about 3 months post-op, I found that an ice pack (or bag of frozen peas) across the incision helped keep the itchies down. Also, keeping your electrolytes balanced helps a lot with the weird "healing" itches - Gatorade, Powerade, any of the sports drinks, will help keep you balanced. I also found that body oil worked better across the belly for me than lotion - seems to get deeper into the skin and helps resist the urge to itch.

My itchiest time of healing was in the hot of summer, so sweat was also a factor in making me want to get the finger nails into the act. I was desperate to keep from doing exactly what you did.

I bet that did ouch!

I don't have much itching and I still have a dressing over it but not it is only like a thin "fake skin" (duo derm extra thin)
And well I just didn't think I guess!
