Itching Driving Me Crazy!!

Hi all. I'm new here and this is my 1st post in post-op.
My surgery was Sept.17/04 and I have somewhat of a new problem.
Last night at around 1am I thought I was going crazy.
I got this such intense itching..but it was on the inside of my stomache. It was an internal itch that I couldn't scratch and driving me wacko!!:hair:
It kept me up til about 2:30 am...UGH!! All I wanted to do was
Anyone else experience this weird feeling of an itch you just cant scratch cus it's inside??

Itching Driving Me Crazy!!

Sherry,

Wow! That would drive me crazy too. I'm not sure what caused the itching, and I hope you find out the problem. Did you call the Dr to see if they maybe able to help?

Good LucK!

Itching Driving Me Crazy!!

When I get itches like that - not inside my stomach but inside my legs/arms - I know that I'm imbalanced in my electrolytes. I grab a liter of Gatorade or Powerade and drink the whole thing. That helps restore potassium and other electrolytes. Usually, within a half hour of drinking the sports drink, my phantom itch is gone and I can get back to whatever I was doing before the skin alarms went off.

Hope you feel better soon!

Itching Driving Me Crazy!!

I' 3 weeks post-op and I have been having itching periodically too. I was told it was part of the healing process - stomache healing (not by my DR but all the other people in the world that think they know everything).
Good luck

Itching Driving Me Crazy!!

I hear ya sister!!!

I am 7/12 weeks post op and returned to work this week, the last few days I have the same kind of internal itching around the area of my scar and too the right. A nurse in the castle told me itching is a sign of healing...but oh boy what I would give to give it all a good old scratch!!!!

Itching Driving Me Crazy!!

Hi ladies;
"Inside itching" is sort of a way of life for me. I deal with it constantly.
It is true it can be caused by healing nerves/incision type things. It can also be caused by nerves misfiring.
The most "common" cause is medicines. If you are taking anything "new" or perhaps even something you have taken for a long time it may be the culprit.
For me it is my medicines along with misfiring nerve endings. You should call your doctor and get his/her worth just to be sure what the cause is!

Take care!

Sybie
