hot flashes

Hi everybody. HELP!! I will be 7 weeks post op on Tuesday, I am having horrible hot flashes day and night. My DH and I went to the movies today and I had 3 in less than 2 hours. Then got home and had several more. My Dr. will not give me hormones. Ihad cancer cells that were found during surgery, a huge family history of breast cancer, and have had a breast biopsy myself that we are waiting for results of. Does any body have other ideas for some relief? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. This site has been a lifesaver for me!!

Hi Gizzymo,

Sorry to hear about your horrible hot flashes. I know they are misearable. Have you visited the Hormone Jungle yet? There is a forum there called "No-Hormone Desert Oasis" for women without ovaries who cannot take HRT. I think you'll find lots of valuable information and support from the women there.

I hope your biopsy results come back negative. I will keep you in my prayers

hot flashes

My doc put me on Effexxor, an anti-depressant that stops hot flashes. It has been wonderful. It is prescribed for women who cannot take hormones due to endometriosis or cancer concerns.
