Is this rectocele or what??

((((tacy)))) Your symptoms do sound a lot like the ones I was having pre-hyst and that's when I was diagnosed with a rectocele

Considering your health insurance issues, I can understand you may want delay seeing a doctor for as long as possible. While this may not be the best course of action, especially since you may be dealing with something other than a rectocele... something that may require immediate attention....

One thing I remember from my wait between the date I scheduled my surgery and the time I actually went into the OR, was how my doctor had stressed the importance of not straining. This meant avoiding constipation and also limitting any lifting or straining as much as possible.

I really would limit your exercises, especially since you've been exercising at a very high level: the worse the rectocele is the harder it is to repair and the more invasive the surgery.

Sending tons of s your way. Please, do keep us posted.

Is this rectocele or what??

Before all this I never looked at myself down there. So I am not sure what it's supposed to look like normally!

Is it abnormal to have a roundish pink bulge coming out the bottom side of your vagina?? When I'm lying down resting I can't feel anything there. If I tighten my ab muscles, I can feel an area under the skin of my vaginal opening that is much bigger than what I can see and it is very hard. Is that normal or abnormal? I don't know I never felt for that before.

I wish I could see a dr. incognito?!? I hate to cut back on exercising if it's not necessary but I don't want to make things worse! I found out even if you call your dr. they document it. So it seems like this is my only resource for the time being.

Also, those of you that have had to splint (I think that is the term for finger assistance to defecate) do you have blood on your finger when you take it out of your vagina? I have had that several times.

Thanks for all the feedback ladies.

No I have never had blood when I had to utilize myself to go, so I am not sure why you do...maybe peggy might have and answer for that one. I have only had to do it 2 times, and after that mind blowing last time, where I could hear dogs howling all over the hood...I swore right then, this would never happen again. So I eat a lot of fiber..I eat 2 pack of instant oatment eacah night and chase it with a stool softener and by 11am the next day, the deed is done. I did find out the lst time it happend....If I stuck my leggs straight out and pushed them towards the middle while staraining, it came on out, I guess cause I was pushing the perianal prolapse at the same time, but terror was screaming out of me worse than any horry movie..LOL

Is this rectocele or what??

My appt with my gyn went good. I also have a small cystocele. I don't know if he plans on fixing it or not. I will ask him before I go into the O.R.
He answered all of my questions I could think of. then he went over my recovery instructions and also said he is putting me off of work for 8 weeks, then I can go on light duty for 90 days. I will see how I feel at about 6 weeks. He said if this surgery fails, he will have to send me to a specialist to reconstruct my pelvis area. I don't want that!!!
My urologist appt was cancelled again. I talked to my gyn when that happened. we agreed to go on with the repairs Tuesday. My urodynamic tests didn't look too bad. I f I need a sling procedure down the road I can always get it done outpatient. Right now my bowel issues really outweigh any urine problems. I don't even leak enough to get on my underwear. I actually think the cystocele may be causing the dribbling sensation inside of me at times. It pushes down against my rectocele.
I do bleed at times when splinting to go to the bathroom. I end up with blood on my fingers.
It isn't normal at all to have a bulge sitting in your vagina. Please get it checked out. A prolapse will only get worst over time and be harder to repair. Mine went from a barely one in November to a large one now.

Is this rectocele or what??

Marian-you are too funny!!!!!!

I always needed to push right on the perineum, not inside, but I am sure that it depends on where the "bulge" is located and if it's pressing on other organs and how all of the pelvic floor is placed.

Rectal bleeding is what confirmed my need to see the colon/rectal doc. I had massive hemorrhoids due to all of the straining, and I saw a lot of blood.

Please take care, and be seen by someone! Is there a nurse info line that you could call for advice?
Do you have the option of a colo/rectal doc?

Please keep us posted, and avoid the straining!!!

Take care,
Marcia

Peggy. your gyn will be doing your rectocele repair? I'm sorry you are having to have another surgery. That sounds like a long recovery time, but it makes sense due to the nature of the problem.

MArcia I'm not aware of an info line in my area. But I'll do some checking for one.

Tacy
My gyn is doing my rectocele, enterocele, and possible cystocele repair Tuesday. It is the vaginal wall that needs fixed. I did see a colon rectal surgeon to rule out rectum prolapse. She said the gyn does the prolapse repairs that push into the vagina. My gyn will be using graft materials (pig) to reinforce my vaginal wall. This will make it extra strong and hopefully it will never happen again. He said if it prolapses again he will send me to Dr. Rafferty (colon rectal surgeon) who is well known and she would have to reconstruct my pelvic floor. I plan on being a ace patient and doing everything he says!!

I have the bulge in the perianal area as well, it is a hoot trying to push both places at one time..but like I said, I haven't had to do it since that last time cause I am VERY careful on my fiber intake and stool softeners.

Is this rectocele or what??

Ok, reading this post has got me thinking ............ I get awfully constipated and then I have a hard time going to the bathroom. I have to push on the area between my vagina and rectum to actually have a BM. I dont see any bulges in my vagina or anything, well, I havent looked either .............. Also, sex had gotten to where it felt better, but it has started hurting again. The fact that I have hemorroids too doesnt help matters either.
