What's your pets name and why?

Hi! Love this thread!!

Shar-pei mix-9yrs old, named Roscoe-he just looked like a Roscoe when I picked him out as a pup

Timneh African Grey Parrot, named Zeko-we couldn't figure out a name for him, and we have a favorite restaurant (italian) that we always order in at and the menu was laying on the kitchen bar and we seen it, and thought hey, that sounds like a cute parrot name. So we named him Zeko. He loves saying his name, and he is aka "turd bird" -name given to him by my hubby because Zeko likes to bite him. So he likes saying his nick name as well! LOL

Parakeet, pale blue- named Dolly-for dollywood in pigeon forge TN.

Other children that we have that have passed on -
parakeet , yellow and green- named Daisy

hamster-named Sissy-we thought she was a girl, turned out to be a boy, still called him Sissy.....lol

hamster named Jingles- when sissy passed on, my secret santa at work gave me a hamster, so being a Christmas gift, named him/her Jingles!

My black lab

We named our black lab pixie dust because the little ones liked peter pan. She is very hyper but very loving. She is about 11 months old and weighs 53 pounds. Anyone have any advice on good nutritional dog food? My lab gets real bad gas from everything I have tried so far.

What's your pets name and why?

Hmm what a fun topic. I loved reading about everyone's animals and names they have for them and why.

We have a large gray cat, named Anna, that was her name when we took her from someone with allergies. She is very much a lady through and through.

We have a small but long haird so she looks larger cat named Maya. We rescued her from the animal shelter. She was so gorgeous that I made my DH go find someone to help us adopt her and I stood guard by her cage so noone would take her from me *grins* Picked the name because it is as pretty as she is.

Then came along Baby Max, or Maximus as I named him later. I was given him by a friend who was getting married and her DH to be had big dogs. They named him Baby Max because he was small, but BOY did he grow. He had to be part maine coon from the size of him, 19lbs and not a lick of fat. So I renamed him Maximus and we just called him Max. Sadly, 3 weeks ago we had to put him to sleep as he suddenly became very sick and lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks and they think he had kidney failure. I still miss my Maximus.

Our newest addition is a 5 month old kitten I renamed to Cleo, short for of course, Cleopatra. I have a black statue of Bast on my computer desk and Cleo looks just like her but didn't want to name her Bast. She was orginally named Saber because someone had thrown her and her siblings and mother out on the freeway in a sack. They were all killed and Cleo had been hit by a car. She had to have surgery on her jaw and one bottom fang would stick up over her lip, so they thought she looked like a Saber Tooth Tiger. I didn't like Saber, so Cleo she became. Her baby teeth fell out and the new fang grew in correctly, so glad I changed it *grins*

Vampykat, I had to respond to this one -- I'm so sorry about Cleo's family. Some people are monsters!! I would love to find the person who did that and push him out of a moving car on the freeway!! Actually, since I have a SOUL I couldn't actually do it, but it sure would be fun to threaten!

And your friend's new dogs may have been what they call "cat-aggressive," but most big dogs are sissies and are easily intimidated by a hiss, puffed-up fur, or a raised paw. In all of the many cat/dog households I know, including mine, the cats are the boss. (Indoors that is-- outdoors, the dog will chase the cat, but only if the cat runs away first.) If your friend's dogs have not been found to be unusually hostile towards cats, maybe she should try getting another cat or two.

Merrie,

I feel the exact same way, it just makes me sooo made when I hear stories like that. I don't understand what those people are thinking, actually they are not thinking, they are just being idiots.

My friend had taken Max to the house for the first month and his dogs treated him very meanly. It was an ugly situation she told me, so she asked if I had enough love for another cat. As if I could say no! *smiles*

What's your pets name and why?

We have two dogs: a 10 1/2 yr. old female chocolate lab named Cocoa Mocha (for obvious reasons!), and a 6 month old male german shepherd named Piper Cub. My husband has his private pilot's license (although hasn't flown in a couple years) and named our new fur baby after the airplane. My sweet Cocoa has stayed mostly by my side since coming home from the Castle 9/6. My VERY active Piper has gone to my next door neighbor's for doggy daycare 7:30 to 5:30 each day. Next week it will be just til noon. I am so thankful for her help with my puppy!

I have a sheltie and his name is Colby because I like that kind of cheese! Our tuxedo cat is named Mr. Boots because he has white paws with black body.
