Re: What's your pets name and why?

Her name is Kitty. Mostly because she's a cat, but also because we're lazy. Our last cat was named Kitty too.

I guess I take after my little Italian grandma who used to always keep a budgie in a cage in her kitchen. She killed them with love by feeding them pasta and strawberries, and then my grandpa would have to replace them. They were all named Butchie.

Re: What's your pets name and why?

I have five cats - Loki Petunia (a beautiful long-hair named because she is all black and very mischievous; her middle name is the first name I ever gave a doll when I was little); Bilbo Ringo Baggins - (a tuxedo cat named after Bilbo Baggins because he loves to explore and named Ringo because he has a white ring around his neck); Chancey Matthias (a cinnamon tabby named after a cat I had before him that died too soon, and his middle name is after my oldest nephew); Mason Tobias (a dark orange tabby me and my fiance decided on both names and there is no significance except that we liked the names - we have decided his name should really be "Nibbler"); and Lillith Rayne, who we call Lilly, LIllyBear and Tiger Lilly (she is a very pretty Ragdoll who is white with calico points and her name was also just because we liked it). Yes, I'm a crazy cat lady - yes, I see them as my children.

Re: What's your pets name and why?

My dog's name is Domino because that was his given name as a pup (I adopted him at 6 years old) and I figured "why change it?" Even though I didn't really like the name at first, it has grown on me.

Re: What's your pets name and why?

I have 2 cats. My 15 year old cat, Daisy Mae, was named by my mom. I got her Daisy in 2000 from a local animal shelter I volunteered at. She was a present for my mom to help her cope with my dad's death from lung and brain cancer 2 months prior to me adopting Daisy. My mom took one look at her and said, "she looks like a daisy, my favorite flower". So, that's how Daisy got her name.
When I moved on my own in late 2002, Mom gave me Daisy, saying that I would need a furry companion to keep me company in my new apartment. Daisy has been with me ever since.

My 4 1/2 year old cat, Angelica Marie (Angie for short), was named by my former caregiver, who rescued her at a local grocery store. A lady at the store had a box of kittens and said that someone dumped them off at her place and they wouldn't eat, so she didn't want them. Gerri, my caregiver, grabbed the last kitten and brought her over to my apartment. I discovered immediately why the kitten wouldn't eat solid food: she was too young to be weaned. So, I bottle-fed her for 2 weeks before she was able to eat solids. Gerri named her Angelica Marie, after a plant in her flower bed, that was different than all the other plants. She said that since Angie was unique, that the name fit her to a tee, just like the plant in her flower bed. Unlike Daisy, Angie is long-haired and is full of energy.

Re: What's your pets name and why?

Have 2 Shiloh Shepherds - Gracie the Bandit of Zion and Buster (they are 6 weeks apart in age)

We picked Gracie because she didn't want to play with toys when she was small. She thought my arms were her toys, so it took a lot of saving grace to tolerate the pain she was inflicting. The Bandit portion was partially due to the markings on her face and the fact that she stole ever toy Buster wanted to play with (rolls are reversed now that he is bigger than she is).

Buster - some wanted us to name him George since our female was Gracie (George Burns and Gracie Allen). He wasn't a George. Since people were thinking about these old stars we picked Buster after Buster Keaton. Buster is the perfect name for him as he likes to get into everything. For a registration name I was leaning towards Buster to the Rescue, but I never received the necessary papers from the breeder. Once we got him Gracie chewed on him instead of me, hence Buster "to the rescue".

Personality wise - she's our nervous Nellie and he's our blonde headed surfer dude.

Re: What's your pets name and why?

Oh this is one of my favorites to tell. I have an Australian shepherd named Yoko Oh No!. When I got her as an 8 week old puppy (over 4 years ago) her name was supposed to be Leah. On the hour + ride home all she did was whine and cry (as is expected of a pup). At one of the stop lights when we were about 1/2 mile from home my husband looked down at her and said, "Hey Yoko Ono, quit yer screeching." She immediately went silent and just stared at him. We laughed so hard over it that it stuck. The spelling change came about when she was 10 weeks old and decided to take a dive 18 ft off of my parents deck. I thought she had killed herself. Thankfully she only had a few bruises. It was enough to say she earned Oh No! in her name though.

My other dog is named Ming. She is a little tyrant though so we joke her name is really Mingus Khan.

Both also answer to a few nicknames. Yoko answers to Tater Tot while Ming answers to Tiny Tot and Chickie Boom.
