Help...anyone who has painful intercourse after given the okay to "do it"

Granulation is scar tissue. When they make the cuff, they sometimes leave one or two small opening at the top for drainage. Not all doctors do it, but those who do tend to see a higher percentage of adhesions (scar tissue), or at least that is what my new doctor told me and he knows his stuff. I hope I was of some help. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Hugs,
Toni

I am 9 weeks out and we tried sex about a week ago. First time, it pinched and the second time was much better. Haven't tried it again since then...maybe tonight?

Shelley,

What you experienced in "round 1" sounds exactly like me. I swore my vagina had gotten much shorter or something. First time was painful and I was sore after only a few minutes - not a good experience overall. I cried and was fearful that I was "ruined" forever.

I read that the vagina elongates with arousal, so the 2nd time around I had the big "O" first (with manual stimulation and lubrication with my DBF) and things were much MUCH more comfortable during penetration. Use a good lubricant like Astroglide or something similar.

Now I'm confidant that things will be great from here on out. I'm now 8 weeks post-op and feeling good, other than a few hot flashes.

Good luck to you!

Joyce

For me the pain wasn't so much internally as it was from the incision...I thought that I was being ripped right apart.

I was very nervous the first time, having read about vaginal cuffs being ruptured after ten weeks of healing time, etc. Nothing like that happened (thankfully) but it didn't feel that great by any stretch of the imagination.

Times after that were better (when I was confident nothing would rupture) but we did need to use lubrication once in a while.

My incision is still occasionally quite tender, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. My surgeon is quite proud of his handywork, saying that I've healed very nicely indeed. My body's ability to heal certainly had something to do with it - so he can't have all the credit (ha ha).

Good luck,

I feel so much better after hearing other sisters stories. Tonight I will head to the pharmacy for some lubricant. I heard that KY is pretty good and then we will give it a try.

Thank you everyone for sharing.

I still haven't been cleared for intercourse at 10 weeks, because I have a few sutures left from the massive A & P repair work done. Went in for an internal exam last 2 weeks ago and was told to wait 3 more weeks. I have finally managed to have orgasms on my own that feel like they use to feel, thank goodness. I am scared to try it with DH, I don't want to have pain and freak out. So I am waiting until I am sure I am ready.

Oh Sisters!!

I was so disappointed!! Tuesday was six weeks and I was going to wait a little longer, because I'm a bit sore down there, but because I've been doing so well we went for it. My DH was very gentle and even very hesitant, but I insisted. I just wanted reassured that it still worked. I could only let him penetrate about halfway because it is so tight from the rectum repair and felt pain. It was not good for me at all because I was stiff as a board. No bleeding or pain after or today. Just sadness and crying. I loved my sex life!!!!

We will keep trying and I see the doc again next week. Next time I will drink wine and try more foreplay. It was also very dry even with lubricant.

Wah!!!
