My period shows up NOW!?!?

Hi all... well, I have yet another dr appt this Friday to see if my doc's partner agrees to assist w/laprascopic surgery instead of abdominal. My dr said it would be about 4 hours because there's some machine that goes in & chops it all up to take it out.

Now, I'm feeling all crampy, and pretty sure I'll start my period tonight or tomorrow. Will this other doc still be able to do a pelvic on me then? Ugh, I can't believe this... I sure hope they won't reschedule again cuz of the period.

Let me know, if anyone has been to the dr while they're on their period? I know they won't do an annual exam then.

I'm kinda crabby today too... sick of being cold and all the snow. Just want this waiting to be over with.

Now everybody's coming around at work asking about my "big day", blah blah blah, and I don't even know when it is! My biggest fear is that they'll start w/the lap. surgery & have to go abdominal anyway. And now I'm worrying about not even knowing WHAT type of surgery I had until I wake up!

Oh well, thanks for listening, maybe it's better I don't know.. AND, if things don't work out Friday, I'll certainly be there Monday for the abdominal surgery, boy this is going to be an emotional weekend!

My period shows up NOW!?!?

I started my period yesterday and had my pre-op today. Dr came in and talked to me and answered my questions. He said "I'll be right back and we'll do the exam." I told him I was having my period (I said it in that "I'm sorry" voice too, WHY do we do that). He just said no big deal. He went out, came back and put his hand on up there! Sorry, if that was crude, I'm in a wierd mood...nerves maybe? I don't think they cancel surgeries because of that, think of all the ladies that jus keep bleeding. I guess they are used to it.

Always...

I'm having surgery on Feb 15th...have no idea whether I'll be having a period then (the problem is, I never know anymore!)...my Dr says that it's not a problem...had to go for a 'what procedure shall we choose' exam last week, and bleeding wasn't a problem then...Dr only said that I couldn't go for an endometrial biopsy if I was on my period..other than that, I don't think it's a problem. Hubby says that "Always" should be renamed 'periodically' Hahaha

My period shows up NOW!?!?

I am also concerned about being on my period when I go in for my surgery. My doctor's answer? "It'll be your last hurrah!" You'll go in with it and come out without it!

My period shows up NOW!?!?

LOL - Thanks for all the info! I know, with all my worrying about the surgery, I keep forgetting about the best part - NO MORE PERIODS! haha

Well, there's nothing I can do about it - I've seen 3 new dr's since mid-December, what's one more!?

My period shows up NOW!?!?

I never had my period for an exam, so I can't say one way or the other. But, I was smack in the middle of my week when it came to be surgery day. I thought I had planned better.

I called my doc's office on day 1 and asked if this would be a problem for surgery. (I hadn't found this wonderful site of Sisters yet!) He said "As long as you're not pregnant, there's no reason for me to reschedule. Some women bleed continuously - it would be impossible to schedule around them."

So, I just mentioned it to the prep nurse when getting dressed for surgery. She gave me a bed pad to lay/sit on and all was well from there.

I figure, it was sweet revenge to get to kick the old biddy (Aunt Flo) out!

No problem

I WAS TOLD THAT IF I'M HAVING MY PERIOD AT THE TIME OF SURGERY , IT'LL NOT BE A PROBLEM. PLUS I'VE TALKED TO SEVERAL WOMEN WHO HAD THEIR HYST. WHILE BLEEDING AND SAID IT WAS FINE. I HAD A D&C , LIKE THAT AND IT WAS FINE.
I AM HAVING AN , TAH/ WITH OVARIES..

My period shows up NOW!?!?

I am due to have my period the same day as surgery.
Hopefully, it's planning to come later than earlier and I
won't have to worry about it after all.
