My thoughts ...........

After reading through the different forums I decided to write this post. I have previously mentioned this a long time ago.

Firstly I had my hyst almost 4 years ago and I am now 37 with no children.

I am really frustrated that women aren't putting their age and date of surgery on their signature. I am very concerned that we have young women posting about questions regarding hyst and ovarian removal, and replies are coming from women who are much older and have either gone through or are going through natural menopause. Even with ovarian removal of an older women it is not the same as a young women due to natural hormone decline.

We need to be more aware of this and ensure our posts are clear about this. I made the huge mistake of asking an older women about this and she said it was great, felt much better. Now, I am not disputing the fact that she said she felt much better, what I am saying is that I can't compare myself to that woman, there is more than a 20 year age gap. I made that mistake face to face when I was gathering information, I don't want women to make it on this site as they have no way of knowing women's ages.

I think that this is an ongoing problem and I hope that we will all be more aware of it. We need to be really honest with each other with the information we bring.

Thanks for reading.

I agree. I like to know that there are women my age out there because sometimes I feel like this is something that was only supposed to happen to old people but of course we know it can happen at any age.

My thoughts ...........

Hi there

You bring up a very good point. Whenever I comment on the losing/keeping ovary issue, I always make sure I state that I was postmenopausal when I made that decision. (I kept my ovaries by the way).

I think the 'ovary' question is so very very important. Most of us can live pretty well without a uterus, but unfortunately not all women are quite so lucky when it comes to living without their ovaries.

I for one will be very diligent about this in the future.

If you look to the left
<<<<
you will see the place for your surgery date. Go to your profile and add it there, so there is consistency.

As to age: again there is a place in each members profile. It's a very simple thing to click on <profile> and find out how old someone is before replying to them.

Best wishes.

Click on <control panel> (in the lavendar stripe at the top of the page) then click on <edit profile>. Scroll down to the place to add your signature.

My thoughts ...........

Thank you so much for adding ages to signatures, and I really think that this will help with women of all ages.

I usually type me age in the post, however, I have also modified my signature to put my age at surgery which was 34.

I hope all sisters stay well and happy.
