I have NO idea what they did!

I feel so stupid posting this. I should have done some research way before I had the hyster, but I was too desperate to end all of the "issues".

I'm so confused! I have no idea what kind of surgery I had.

I ordered a copy of all of my med records from the day of surgery to present. I see so many types of hysters on here that I don't know which one I actually had. I don't know what signs to watch for due to this.

I am so angry with my doctor for making this whole thing sound like a walk in the park along with a speedy recovery! He explained NOTHING.

All I know for sure is I have two ovaries left, and they went through my belly button along with two incisions on either side of my belly.

Totally clueless.

"doctors are not god. doctors are not god. doctors are not god" ... I guess I'm too trusting in the medical profession.

I have NO idea what they did!

Well it was definatly Lap assited.

You either had a Total (uterus and cervix) or a Sub-Total (uterus only)
that should be easy to check even with the Dr's nurse, just a phone call away.

I would do that rather than wait for the records to arrive, so at least you know a little better where you stand recovery wise and what you might expect in the near future, untill you get the rest of your records.

Just a quick idea off the top of my head.

I have NO idea what they did!

I would certainly schedule an appointment with your surgeon to establish some communication.

I already knew that my doc's surgical skills were next to none, but he didn't do much explaining in the beginning. However, the more I discovered, especially on this website, the more questions I had. Once I established that kind of open communication with him, I felt so much more secure and cared for in my recovery, and even now. He actually thanked me for helping him be a better communicator..........said none of his other patients really expressed what I did, leading him to believe everything was covered. Gave him Hystersisters materials, too.

It's never to late! An open door with your doc is key in a successful recovery. Take care..............Deb

I have NO idea what they did!

I have two small incisions on the left, one small incision on the right, and one in my belly button. Mine was a LAVH - Laproscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy. Kept both ovaries. Anything removed vaginally includes the cervix.

Thank you, northwestlady.

That sounds like it to me. Same incisions.
