Hurts so much to cough!

Hi,
I had my hyst on Jan. 18. I've been back home for two days now and everything is okay, except it really really hurts to cough. I've tried a pillow and my hands to hold my tummy. I hate to be a big baby about this, but please tell me this is going to get better.

Hurts so much to cough!

Hi Wy! I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and I totally know how you feel! It's still a little tender for me, but not near as bad as it was....the worst thing is sneezing! Luckily I didn't do that until about 2 days ago...I can't imagine what the pain would've been like at 2 days post-op!

Just hang in there...you'll start feeling better and better every day. Get plenty of rest and drink lots of water.

Take Care!

Hurts so much to cough!

Yes, it will definitely get better. I too could not even think about coughing in the beginning, let alone sneezing, but within a week or so, that pain did subside.

Hang in there!

Hurts so much to cough!

Two of the worst things when you get home is coughing and first bowel movement. But I'm here to tell you I'm on day 10 and today was the first time I had a little tiny cough and it was okay! Just hang in there and do the best you can....hold on for dear life when you feel the urge.

Hurts so much to cough!

Thanks Ladies. Wow, Thank goodness I haven't sneezed yet! I am sure this is going to get better, but I swear, I have to look down and make sure I'm still in one piece after a cough. So far, the steri strips and the stitches are holding me together.

Is your tummy also numb in some areas? Mine is. I don't really mind it, but it's strange, like touching another person's swelly belly.

Also, I'm beginning to get rid of some of the fluid they pumped into me at the hospital. When I woke up the morning after they discharged me, I looked in the mirror and I looked just like Winston Churchill (in his later years). I usually don't look quite that puffy. Now that I'm passing the fluid, I'm back to my young Winston look.

Hurts so much to cough!

I am entering week three and two of my biggest fears are coughing and sneezeing. Sneezeing is by far the worst, I get a tingly, burning sinsation for about ten min.'s after a sneeze at my insission area, of course that is after the initial feeling that my guts have exploded. The coughing pain has gotten better, I think it is easier to control then sneezing. I too wonder when this sensation will go away, I sometimes feel like after I sneezed I just regressed a few days of healing.
