can i get some advise

I had the morphene pump after surgery and wow that is some good stuff... Then the doctor gave me vicoprofren at the hospital which made me itch like a mad woman... so... they sent me home with percoset and I took one of them and it made me feel like I was in outer space. So, I relied on ibuprofren and took a lot of them until the next week and for some reason, I had some pain that was a little worse then. Perhaps because I went on a car ride pretty far... anyhow the doctor called in darvocet and I took about 4 of them. I have nearly the entire bottle left and guess I will save it for if ever I am hurting in the future or I will toss them out. Anyhow, I almost feel guilty as the pain was never anything that was ghastly thank goodness!

I had a deladid (sp?) pump after surgery, since morphine makes me sick. It's the kind of drug that makes you forget you have pain rather than kill it, so I was out of it that whole day. Then they started giving me toradol in the IV and Vicuprofin orally. I came home with 60 Vicuprofins and I can also take extra strength Tylenol if needed.

can i get some advise

I had a TAH on 12/27 and my doctor gave me Percocet to take when I got home. I took one and never touched them again. Not to say I didn't have discomfort. Of course I did with a TAH but Motrin worked fine. I didn't mind the little bit of discomfort on them besides it helped me make sure I was careful. Plus I don't like the way stronger pain meds affect me in other ways. Tired or drowsey all the time and nauseous and light headed. It worked out for me. I was 4 weeks yesterday and am doing really well. Best of luck and do what makes you comfortable.

I had a TVH (kept ovaries) on Jan. 19 and came home Jan. 22. I had a morphine pump following surgery, and I got to know my "little buddy" well for two days before he was whisked away by one of those clip-board clinching elves. Haven't had anything else but Advil since then. I take three 200mg Advil every 8 hours (when I remember and as I need them). This dose equals one 600mg Motrin and is much cheaper.

can i get some advise

Hi I had TAH/LSO on 1/12/05 DR sent me home on 1/14 w Rx 325mg OXYCOD/APAP to take 1 or 2 every 4 to 6 hours. It made me sick so he said take MOTRIN 6 200mg every 6 hours, (before surgery I was taking 8 @ times). The MOTRIN works well just had to take it for 2 days and fine now.

Hope all goes well for you!

can i get some advise

I had TAH on 1/12, home 1/14. Most days take 800 mg Motrin, one in the morning with breakfast and one in the evening with dinner.

If I'm having a bit more pain some nights I break a Davocet in half (don't like them much) and take it at bedtime, helps take the edge off and get me to sleep a little sooner. Not every night, only when I've done alot during the day and seem a bit more achey...

Took oxycodience, one every four hours the first week, one every six to eight hours the second week, one in the a.m., and one in the p.m. the third week, cut them in half and took 1/2 in the a.m. and 1/2 in the p.m. the fourth week, supplementing with extra strength tylenol as needed, and then switched to extra strength tylenol only from then on. Probably only took a few tylenol after the fourth week.
