Fever Post-Op

Adelaide,
I wonder if you need a different oral antibiotic. I went through four before they found one that would work after the IV antibiotics. My blood cell count was normal, which was odd.

I hope you get feeling better. Feeling feverish is no fun.

Fever Post-Op

I too had a temp several days post-op. Surg was Dec 15, and past Christmas I was burning up. My temp was 100.2 (on Oxycodone 2 every 3-4hrs) at the most, but I was so hot... Then cold. I did not eat a real meal untill after the New Year. Christmas dinner with my family was rotten, I could not eat more than a few bites and they were very worried, as I am only 99lbs. I was vomiting 2 days before Christmas, and Oh did it hurt! I saw my GP between Christmas and New Years and made calls to the on call DR. They all said this was normal, and not to worry.

I was given IV nausiea stuff in hospital, but told is was $35.00 a bag, therefore I could only have so much in a day. Go figure I'm in Canada and told no to meds. Well why not give me a few cent gravol and call it a day.

I lost a total of 12lbs after my hyst. I have gained most of it back now. It takes a long time for your tummy to feel better. Gravol helps with the nausiea, so take it if you need. I'm sure it's OTC in the US... As for your temp keep bugging Dr untill you get what you need. Is there a Dr's line or nurse line you can call? Ontario has a Nurse line that helps people with medical questions.

Hope this helps...
