What about ur post op diet?

I was on a soft diet while in the hospital following my TAH on Jan. 12. Has anyone's doctor suggested that one should eat certain foods? I had terrible gas pains lastnight. Please help.

gas

I think its trial and error. I still cant eat any milk products...learned that the hard way. But other wise I think a good healthy diet promotes healing.

What about ur post op diet?

Cauliflower does me in! I ate some for the first time last week and boy it kicked my butt all night. Now if I think it is going to bother me I just do not eat it.

What about ur post op diet?

I made sure I stayed away from gassy foods...

Cabbage, beans, broccoli, carbonated drinks, etc.

I made sure I drank lots of water and warmed prune juice twice a day. Tried to increase fiber in my diet via fruits and "safe" veggies. Ate raisins and when needed, took a stool softener to help things along.

The gassy pains usually happen...even if you watch what you eat. Its because your bowels and intestines are trying to find a comfortable place to reside.

Best of luck,

Sarah

What about ur post op diet?

I was on clear liquids only until I had bowel sounds. At home I did stay away from foods that I knew would give me gas and ate a lot of those that I knew would make me poo
One thing I do suggest for my new sisters---eating lots of protein. Protein promotes healing.
