7 weekers....how's it going?

How's everyone doing?

I was cleared by both the GYNO and URO to go back to work, (2 part-time jobs), but no sex until the full 8 weeks is up.
I did have the choice of the full 8 weeks off, but the job with the historical society needs me to do a cookie baking birthday party tomorrow, so I agreed to work. (I need the $!)

I'm feeling pretty good, still somewhat tired and very confused by 3 different docs opinions of how to give me more testosterone due to low levels.

One of my jobs looks like it magically "disappeared" while I was out on unpaid leave, so, one of the other metro historical sites is looking for new guides (non-costumed), so, I'm up for the challenge.

How's everyone else?

My belly (known to me as my gut), is still quite swelly. I can't seem to button my pants and be able to breathe at the same time.
At least my costume was too big pre-surgery....

Although I kept 1 ovary, I am dealing with HRT issues as my blood work showed messed up hormones, among other things.

I'm trying to keep having a decent recovery while focusing on the needs of my family.
DH and I are taking a trip down to the Mayo on Feb. 7 to have one of my twin boys evaluated to see if he has Marfan's Syndrome. That should be another interesting medical experience to add to my resume...

Take care everyone, I'm sending good karma out to the board...

Marcia

7 weekers....how's it going?

Hi. Glad to hear that you are well. I go back to work on Monday. I have developed a bit of a bladder issue. Last week Dr. thought that it was a bladder infection, and treated it with antibiotics. After 7 days it was not better, so I went back. He thinks that it is Bladder Spasms. Wow, until today I did not even know what that was! I do now. I am also on another antibiotic. After a crying spell tonite (mad that my recovery was heading in the wrong direction) I feel a bit better. I found some good info in the Bladder Matters Forum. Wow, I don't know what I would do if I did not find this site. I hope you can get your HRT figured out.

Your job sounds interesting. I hope that all goes well for your son at the Mayo. Take care.

7 weekers....how's it going?

Hi Ladies --

I will be 8 wks. post-op on Monday...TAH/LSO 12/6, kept the right ovary and no hormone problems so far. We are still not very out from our surgeries. Often I have to remind myself that and try to take it slower and easier than normal. No vacuuming, sweeping, etc. just yet. Can't wait to garden this spring!

Will return to work on Monday, too and work shorter hours if need be. Seems like many sisters get very fatigued the first couple of weeks when going back to the job.

Swelly belly is still there and much worse when I sit at the computer for hours. Once in a while a little "zinger" will go through the belly - OUCH! Doesn't last long but definitely yells at me! Today I am going to have a blood test done to see if I am still anemic. Before the surgery I was one iron supplements but after the hyst, my Dr. said not to take them anymore. He did suggest drinking soy milk...even if I am not experiencing any hot flashes, etc. "It's good for you." Somehow it doesn't seem like it would TASTE very good. Has your doctor suggested soy products?

Overall, feeling pretty good but certainly not fantastic...at least not at 8 weeks. Hopefully, we will get there with more time. BUT, it was great to toss out all the overnite pads, super-plus tampax and Depends. Also, no more scheduling activities and trips around Aunt Flo's visits. YES, YES, YES.........:-) :-) :-)

Marcia43 - best of wishes and hope the Mayo visit helps your son out. BB2 - feel better and tell those bladder spasms to HIT THE ROAD, JACK.

We're on our way.....

7 weekers....how's it going?

Hi ladies,
I must say I feel pretty good! The doc OK'd me last week to resume all normal activities. He said he can still see a few stiches left but not to worry. That's what the smell is, It is the stiches still dissolving. I don't seem to have it now. Thank goodness. I still haven't got up to nerve to do the "deed". My DH is driving me nuts but I decided to be selfish on this topic. I feel bad because he's waited sooooo long but I'm just not ready yet so he'll have to wait. I feel a little moody this week but I think it's the week that I would've had my period. Still have one ovary so the other period symptoms are still there. I suppose that's good because it means that it's working! I noticed that my stomach and bowels are a little more sensitive to certain foods. I ate hot wings the other day and boy did I regret it. It's been 5 days and I'm still in burning pain (in my intestines). I will not be eating them for a long time! They tasted so good but it's not worth the pain. For the most part, I actually feel normal again! I still have a little pulling on my incision when I over do it but that's nothing compared to earlier recovery. I hope the rest of the ladies are healing good too. Take care.

7 weekers....how's it going?

I will be 8 weeks on tues and am FINALLY feeling back to normal (whatever that is). I have had bladder issues from day one so I am now on Macrobid every night (antibiotic). Ever since my 12/6 lavh/bladder sling I have needed to be on antibiotics.....as soon as I would end a prescription I would get ill again so now its a daily dose to see if we can KEEP IT AWAY this time. Will most likely take it for a few months (3) but that doesnt help with yeast either!! I feel more "stable" as far as hormones go and am having more energy lately. I went back to work last week and things are going well, although Ive been haveing some "pink toilet paper" since starting work. I wonder if its vaginal or uretal? I am also having a light yellowish/brownish discharge. Not doing great but DEFINATLY feeling better. Amy

8 weeks on wednesday

Hi there,
I am relieved to find you all and your replys on how you feel and what you are going thru daily. This reasures me i am going to be alright.
I have been released to work since the end of the sixth week. I have had more pain then I imagined for this recovery time. I never had paid much attention to pain. I want to learn about what is good pain and bad pain.

I have had the pulling at the incision feeling as well as little shooting pains from time to time. My incision seems to be so hot(burning) in my cloths too. My Dr says the incision is fine.
By the end of the day (depending on how much I walk the building) I can be in some icky pain that shows on my face (grimace). This is usually between 2 and 4pm each day.
I even had days where i sat at my desk most of the day twice this week, one day i felt tired but good and made it thru the whole day. On Friday I sat at my desk all day, I was in annoying littlte pain most of the day.
All I seem to want to do is get home, get in the pajamas and get into bed. I am 41 and thru depo prevera over the last 5 years have gained 60lbs. before surgery, I am very active, so i am dazed about this recovery time.
Granted i feel my personality, is doing better. I am bubbly and smiling more each day. I am making thru most 8 or 9hr days at work. I want to make it to the gym at night and i dont have the strength. It is hard for me to slow down without being frustrated.
There is so much i dont know.
I have a question about bladder spasm, what does that feel like?
grateful to have you all to talk to
