How long did you have to wait?

Between the time you told your Dr that you wanted to have a hysterectomy and when you actually got a surgery date, how long did you have to wait? Once you had a date, how long did you have between when you found out and the actual surgery?
I told my Dr I was ready on Tuesday morning and am having to wait about 2 weeks while they wait to get insurance approval before giving me a date. Doc told me it would be about a month total before they could get me in, so am assuming that means once I get a date, it will be about 2 weeks after that. But wanted to see how long you ladies have had to wait so I can see if there is a standard time period or not... I'm going crazy not knowing and trying to get ready, but not wanting to do things like spring clean the house too early only to have to do it again...
THANKS!!

2 weeks

Hi,

I had to wait two weeks. I'm thankful he was able to do it so quickly. Some sisters wait months.

Let me tell you it was a busy couple of weeks try to get all my Christmas shopping done, house decorated and our son's birthday party (month early and so glad I did it then and got it out of the way) done. Christmas was actually very relaxing because I couldn't go out and do any last minute shopping.

Hope it all goes well for you ~ Hope

How long did you have to wait?

Saw my gyne on Nov. 1, and he said it was "time." The fibroid had grown to mammoth proportions. My first surgical date was Dec. 27, but then the doctor suspiciously had to "go out of town" on that day. The next available date was Jan. 20. Again, I got a "going out of town call," but this time, he moved it up a day to Jan. 19. Guess I waited about 11 weeks. Am glad it is all over now!

How long did you have to wait?

Live in Canada. Doc said it could take up to 6 months. Took 3 weeks to even get an appointment with the surgeon. I could have bled to death by then. I called my old doc in Calif. Had a date in a week. A little too fast!

Not long..

From the date that my Dr and I decided on a hysterectomy, it will be 5 weeks to the day of surgery...it could have been 4 weeks, but I needed to add a bit more 'sick time' at work....now it's only 16 days away (Feb 15)!

How long did you have to wait?

3 Months, he wanted to shrink the fibroids and uterus because they were too big and it would have been dangerous to do the surgery any earlier.
