Any good (non-cramping) products for constipation? How long will this last, anyway? I have not taken pain killers for quite a while but still having problems. Help!

I am with you. I am taking colace and now citrucel and am still having problems. This has been the worst part of the whole surgery experience.

My doctor just prescribed GlycoLax and I'm at 10 weeks. Seems this area tends to shut down with all we've been through and needs some assistance getting going again.

Call your doctor and ask about it. I've been using it for 5 days and it hasn't caused any cramping or associated risks. Easy to take, in any liquid. I've heard other sisters on the site speak of it as well.

Hope your feeling better soon.

I'm going to call doc and ask about the glycolax. Citrucel got everything movin, but it still hurts.
Thanks for the info. You all are so fabulous!

Black licorice, Cucumbers, prunes

Hi Sisters

I take a generic version of FiberCon pill every but I've still have trouble with constipation occasionally. I find I do much better if I eat black licorice. There's also licorice tea. Cucumbers and prunes or prune juice are great natural laxatives too. HTH!

I am into my 3rd week and having the same problems with constipation & pain. I have tried everything and I found that prune juice has been helping but still not doing it totally. Thanks for the advice on Glycolax which I hope my DR will let me try. I think its just awesome that I am finding so many useful tips and support on this site with great insight.

!!Hang on sisters, we'll get throught this

My Dr. said that she has never heard of Glycolax. She suggested overthe counter like ducolax (maybe the same as the other?) I'm just glad that I'm normal!! Seems like I'm in the same boat as many others---which is comforting.

Sorry for any confusion. GycoLax is a generic form of Miralax. I have heard other ladies speak of this on this website. Hope this helps!!

I called my doctor today to tell him nothing I have used seems to be working. He suggested I use dulcolax tonight. I hope it works because not only is this getting uncomfortable I am sure it is not exactly healthy.

Kelkal, your surgery date was the day after I had my rectal/vaginal fistula surgery (a complication from my 10/12 hyst). To do the last surgery, the doc basically had to dissect my vagina and rectum apart as they had formed a "connection". I too am having problems getting things normal. I am taking 2 fibercon tablets each night, drinking tons of water, eating salad and eating 5-6 prunes a day - I just can't seem to get back on a regular track. Is the Gycolax safe to take for an extended period of time?
