falopian tube protuding.....

well, i went to see my doc today 1 month earlier than he expected becuz I was having some issues. My TVH was sept 2 and for the past 2 mo I have had spotting after intercourse and my right ovary was causing me pain atleast 2-3 times a month. Well, I'm glad I went becuz he discovered that there was a small pocket where my stiches were that didnt heal properly adn my falopian tube is protruding out it! Thats whats causing the spotting! He said hes only seen it happen a couple times and is rare (of course, right!) He put on that brown gunk and said itr should help, but if it doesnt theres 2 options - 1. freeze it, 2. laparoscopy and remove the tube. But he told me to see how it goes and not to worry. Hes also sending me for an ultrasound to check out my ovary - but he thinks its nothing. Could just be that its floating around.... so we'll see. I asked him about my back pain, but he said it wouldnt have anything to do with my surgery adn suggested I go see an ortho or my GP.
SO... just wondering if anyone else has heard of or experienced this falopian tube protrusion???? What did you do?? I dont want to have another lap, but if its necessary, i will. The "freezing" thing sounds scary but I have to read more about it!
THANKS FOR LISTENING!!

falopian tube protuding.....

Hi Chris,

I'm sorry that you're having problems. I've not had any of the experiences you've written about, but I noticed that no one has replied, so I wanted to help "bump" you up.

Hopefully, with our wealth of sisters, someone will reply!

Good luck.

falopian tube protuding.....

Hi Chris I didn't experience it myself, but what you're describing is called a fallopian tube prolapse. There have been a few ladies here who have experienced it. Here's a link to one of their threads:

Would the DR do the cryosurgery (freezing) vaginally? If so, I had a kind of similar procedure done about two months after my hyst, to remove scar tissue that formed connecting my anterior and posterior repair incisions. The tissue was cut and then cauterized with a cryoprobe, then stitched. It was done as day surgery under Versed rather than full general anesthesia; the procedure took only about 15-20 minutes and I was home a couple of hours later. The pain was minimal, and it fixed the problem. I had to use vaginal Premarin cream for a few weeks afterwards to help the cut/frozen/stitched areas heal better. It worked great, and I've had no further problems there.

I hope this helps... let us know what happens, OK?
s,
-Linda

falopian tube protuding.....

Hi Chris!
I just had a prolapsed fallopian tube removed the 7 of Jan.
I had my TAH in 2000, and kept having a yellow discharge, and occasional watery discharge. I just ignored it and didn't go back to the doctor for any yearly exams.
This past September, I ended up having an ovarian cyst removed(not with the same Dr. or hospital as my hyst). At my follow up appointment, my new Dr. saw some granulated tissue caused by my hyst from 4 years previous. After many treatments of silver nitrate, a biopsy was done, but didn't show up as fallopian tube.
I ended up with another cyst, and we decided to take the ovary and fallopian tube out. So I had a RSO. It was when the Dr. opened me up, that she found out the tube had prolapsed (it didn't go through the vaginal cuff completely).
My doctor mentioned many times because of the complications I had from the hyst(hematoma that drained for 5 weeks, and cellulitis) that a prolapsed fallopian tube could result.
It is a very rare complication from a hyst.
Good luck and keep us posted.
