My stomach grew another inch -

that makes it four inches total! My stomach was 3" bigger after my surgery (from the day before my surgery when I measured) and now just this week, it's gone up another inch. This is awful!!!!! I can't stand anything tight around my stomach - I'm back to work but wearing track suits with elastic waist & I won't be able to do that for very much longer. I tried a size 18 pants on and they are uncomfortable (wore a size 16 before the surgery). It's huge and very uncomfortable - my doctor wasn't in today but I'll call her tomorrow. My surgery was December 13th (partial vaginal hysterectomy).

I started walking a little bit more this week and I'm wondering if that is what it is - but how dumb - I'm walking so I can get back to exercising like I was before the surgery and to help lose weight and instead it might be making me bigger then before.

HELLLLLLP!

Maybe your body is telling you your doing to much.
your working AND trying to get back into shape at the same time and your body is rebelling.
Do you think that is a possibility? By giving you more of a swelly belly?

I don't feel like I am - I only work part-time (18 hours).

So, if I quit the walking & it is the reason my stomach is larger, will stomach go down after a couple of days? Or is it here to stay for awhile?

I never had the nerve to measure my swelly belly. I thought it would just be too depressing.

The good news is that the swelling does eventually go down. Now I only have it at the end of the day or when I over do it.

Be patient. It does take a while for it to go away.

Hi Rachelle,

I had my TAH on the same day as you had your surgery. I have a huge swelly belly also.

When I relax in the tub, I can't even see my feet!

Yesterday I got so fed up with it, that I got dressed and went outside for a walk. It felt so good to walk in the warm sunshine and I ended up walking 2 miles.

I feel better physically, but yes, my big swelly belly is still here!

I'm so looking forward to the day that I might have a smaller belly.

In the meantime, I'm making the best of a bad situation.
I'm still buying elastic waist pants. I found some great looking cordoroy pants in different colors on clearance. (I bought the Cascade Blues brand at Mervyn's )I can dress them up or down and they are so comfortable.

Don't fret too much, It too will pass.

Luv, Luvmabug.

My doctor has no idea why my stomach would be swollen and 4" inches bigger so she sent me over to make an appointment with my family doctor to see her on Monday. Is this necessary???? Why would my doctor NOT know that about the swelly belly and could tell if it's that or something else going on. I know it's not water weight otherwise I would have gained 10 pounds (instead I'm the same as the day before my surgury weight wise and I've gained no other inches except for the stomach). Now I'm wondering what the heck to do.

Rachelle,

I have no idea why your GYN is sending you to your GP? That makes no sense. But maybe your GP will talk to your GYN and ask the same thing. It is not coincidence that it is swollen since surgery...but I will tell you that swelly belly takes a while to completely go away. Try doing nothing one day and see how it looks even though it still might take more than one day. But go to your GP anyway and see what they have to say.

i find that the more im on my feet the more swollen I am. I was vrey sick for the last week, and stayed laying on the couch for three days straight, no swelling at all. Once I got up and started getting back to life I started getting the swelling again. Moring its flat, afternoon looking a little plump by evening looking six months pregnant. ** hum, how depressing and I've even lost 28 pounds through excersice
