After all of my surgeries, the insurance we had at the time was a % of the bill, not a copay that we have now for inpatient stays ($400) cost is over 15,000 dollars---we have filed bankruptcy cause of it all and the fact that with all the problems I have I can not work, but we could never afford that much anyway. Sometimes it is worth paying more for the premium and getting a good plan.--We have done that now, so it won't be so hard if I ever have to have surgery again.

The only breakdown I got on my bill was that the "room and board" was about $3,200 (for 2 nights) and all "other services" (meaning the surgery) was about $12,300. (Boy was I naive to think it would only be around $5,00 total.) I realize now that I really cannot complain because our insurance covers 100%. I would be curious to see the full breakdown and I really feel for all of you who have to "pay out the wazoo".

Mine is currently at $27,000 just for the hospital,(surgery, 2 nights in the castle). My OB's charge is $2,500. Haven't gotten the anesthesiologist yet? Yipeee!! Thank God for insurance even if we don't have a great plan. It is still better than having none at all.

I had surgery 11/22 and I still haven't gotten a bill from the hospital yet. I haven't even gotten the statement from my insurance company yet. So far my total costs are $71 for the preop visit and the post op follow-ups with my gyn.

Not sure if I should post my fees or not. My hyster wasn't much more than my laps were. I believe the total costs were just over $12,000 and my portion was for the t.v and phone a total of $28.00.

We are blessed with excellent insurance with little to no out of pocket fees.
