9 Surgeries since LAVH-maybe didn't need the LAVH in the first place

I had a LAVH 4/11/03 due to intense pelvic pain from endo. endo feeds off of estrogen and the dr that did my hyst did not cut out any of the endo, put me on 1.25 mg of premarin, and left a piece of ovary in me stuck down under scar tissue that was ovulating and releasing fluid but, there was nowhere for the fluid to go and increased my pain monthly.

my endo spread to cover my entire peritoneum, bladder, bowel, and rectum. the dr. told me i needed to see a psychiatrist and come back in a month if i still had pain.

since my hyst i have to work at urinating and bowel movements have been painful before and after the surgery but, after the hyst i have a bulge between my vagina and rectum and i have to push on the bulge to get it out and they are small bowel movements. i feel like i don't get everything out and the pain is so bad i see stars and sometimes throw up in the bathroom garbage.

since the hyst i have had 5 laser laps to excise out the endo and 4 hypo gastric blocks for pain but, after i go to the bathroom the pain is back so those were worthless. i am on 20 mg of Methadone 3 times a day for pain and Baclofen a muscle relaxer but, it just takes the edge off...i still can't bend over, every step i take is painful like knives stabbing me, when i stand or sit it's like a knife going up me.

i have started Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy for the pain and the bathroom issues. i guess they have a great recovery for women who have this therapy. i get trigger point injections in my lower abdomen and in my vagina to allow me to get thru the pain of the therapy. the injections are painful but, if you can stand them they do numb you for about 4 hours. i just keep telling myself i have to go thru more intense pain to get to no pain.

I have a Pelvic Pain Specialist, Acupuncturist, Psychiatrist, Pain Management doctor, and now Physical Therapist.

i had to close my mortgage biz i had downtown because i couldn't function from the pain.

does anyone have any other suggestions on what i could be doing to get rid of this pain or get my life back??

the part that really bothers me is i never had a dr cut out the endo before a hyst was offered to me. if the disease had been removed i may not have even needed a hyst and that is really hard to live with. you go to a dr thinking they know what they are doing and you trust them...i was desperate to stop the pain and should have done my research before the LAVH but, i didn't know any better and now i'm worse off than i was before the surgery.

has anyone else had these problems? i would like to hear from you...i feel so alone and frustrated.

God Bless,
Amy :-)

9 Surgeries since LAVH-maybe didn't need the LAVH in the first place

Hi Amy

I'm so sorry to hear about your pain and I'm complaining about my little bite of pain and what is not working any more because of the surgery.

"you go to a dr thinking they know what they are doing and you trust them..."

We trust them to do what is best for us and we lose in the process.
I always thought a doctor would give me all the information I needed before I made the descion to have surgery or not. I have found out the hard way that is not true.

Like many of us they treat the symptoms and not the cause of the problem.

Amy,
I am sorry that you've had and are having such a difficult time. Many of us here on The Road can relate to ongoing pain issues.

Unfortunately with endo, there really is no cure. Even if the endo was removed before the hyst, it could have continued to grow. We have lots of good info on Endo in the Resources section here:Endo Resources

I can totally relate. Since 6/03 I have had 7 Lap procedures for endo, one of them was a hyst. Since the hyst 2 more laps were done for endo. My most recent was today. However, doc isn't sure if its' endo or now it's dead endo turned into scar tissue.

But anyway, I can relate. It's frustrating when you think they will help you, and all they seem to do is string you along.

It sounds as if you have a lot of people in your court though. I've heard great things about pelvic PT, though I haven't tried it myself. Also Pain Management seems to be good too.

I wish I could write more, but it hurts so bad to sit, and I really shouldn't be up at the computer yet anyway!

Take care

~Hunny
