no more blood on pad, but now smelling urine!

If I didn't have bad luck I think I would have no luck at all.
I had my repairs two weeks ago today. The drainage(blood) has stopped now. Thank goodness. I looked at my pad today and it looks different. I smell something that resembles urine. I hope to goodness my cystocele isn't getting larger now my rectocele swelling is going down. I don't need another medical issue.
I regret not seeing the urologist first to go over my urodynamic test results. It said I have stress incontinence. A uro gyn had suggested that i had a urethra sling while I had my posterior repair.I should have listened to my gyn and waited to see the urologist before having my surgery. I am afraid now I will need more surgery before long!!
Why can't I just be 100% now and use common sense when I should have?
My gyn said to wait and see if I need to see a urologist down the road. well, it is beginning to look like the road is getting closer. I go back to my gyn in two weeks and will be sure to have him check out the cystocele size then, GGGRRR!! am I too stubborn for my own good sometimes.

no more blood on pad, but now smelling urine!

After my hyst, and other ladies say this too...there is a weird scent after about a week. You can notice it in the smell of the urine. We think it's the stuff they leave inside. There's packing, betadine, this and that. The scent eventually goes away. I get it with every surgery. I call it the hospital surgery scent! It's not a nasty smell, just weird.

Peggy,

While I am glad to hear that the discharge has stopped and I am sorry to hear that you think you smell urine as a discharge. Hopefully it is not what you think and your doc will reassure you at your next appt. I know with my stress incontinence, I know when I 'lose it". I have had that since I was pregnant 11 years ago and believe it or not has gotten better since my hyst...which I thought it would get worse. I mean one sneeze or big laugh and I was in trouble and I always wore a poise pad when I wasn't on my period. The only time I have worn one since the hyst was when I had a cold and I knew the coughing and stuff would probably trigger it and it did a little, but better than before.
Sending prayers your way that everything is okay.

Peggy,

I think if you had stress incontinence, you would know for sure. As (((Marian)) said, a sudden sneeze or laugh or cough and you feel the leak (whether a trickle or a gush ... you just know).

You may not need to resign yourself to another surgery. You may be able to address your issues through phyical therapy and the cystocele may not get any worse. Or the smell could be something else like ((LA)) suggested. Let's hope!

Try not to assume the worst! We'll be for the best!

no more blood on pad, but now smelling urine!

I do have stress incontinence. It was diagnosed on my urodynamic test results. The uro. even suggested a suspension. I refused it, then, but regret it now. Everytime I stand up I feel dampness in my vagina.Just a trickle. It gets quite irritating.I do leak quite a bit under high pressure also. The test also said I need to do a valsalva maneuver to start a flow of urine. I asked my gyn if I should have waited and had the tvt put in while I had my posterior repair done. He said yes, but that I seemed to be in a hurry. My gyn did say it can still be done outpatient if need be.I can feel bulging from the anterior wall. The posterior wall is feeling better everyday!
I will see what my gyn. suggests when I go back to him in two weeks.
