How much bleeding did you have?

I had a TAH on 1/31/05 (keep both ovaries) and have been VERY uncomfortable. I went from a small discharge to no discharge to bleeding like I'm on my period. I talked to the nurse and she said it's the sutures disolving. Also, if the bleeding got very heavy, like the way I was bleeding before, to immediately to the ER.

I'm not having any pain, but I'm not really sure what's heavy or light since I alwarys used tampons and can't really judge. The bleeding isn't bright red, more of a brownish red.

Any help will be appreciated.

How much bleeding did you have?

My doctor told me that when the stitches begin dissolving that I could, in his words, wake up and even have blood running down my leg. Yuck. He said it's normal because of old pooled blood that's released as the stitches dissolve. Maybe that's what's happening with you. I've had bleeding, too, but not bright red, mostly darkish/brownish blood, which indicates old blood.

If it were me, I would get truly concerned if the blood is very heavy and bright red. If you're worried, though, it's always better to seek professional advice, even if it's just for peace of mind.

How much bleeding did you have?

My MD told me to expect bleeding similar to a period, but not as heavy as what led me down this path to hyster. He told me if soaking a pad in an hour, call his office. My surgery was on 1/29/05. I have had no vaginal bleeding at all (which is wonderful because I had a big, non stop period since September). Doctor did say as I increase physical activity to expect bleeding...also as stitches dissolve.

Best of luck to you,

How much bleeding did you have?

Hey 1/31 sister! I have had no bleeding or discharge yet, call the dr.'s office for a phone ? if you are worried, why be worried? I feel pretty good, no real pain, more achy. I noticed that I'm getting in and out of bed normally now and I'm not holding up traffic on the staircase, altho' it still feels like I'm moving slow-how about you?

How much bleeding did you have?

Thanks so much for the info ladies. I've noticed that it eased up some today, but still I need to wear a regular pad, which is unusual for me since I always wore tampons.

Thanks again!
