Home from the Castle: Piece of Cake!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ladies!!!

As TheBinx told you on Friday, I received my crown.

I have been home all of 15 minutes, but I wanted to send you all a quick note. Please know..the waiting is the worst part about the whole ordeal.

Do what your doctors and nurses tell you to do, and you will get through this. Note: I did not have a bowel prep; however, about 2 days prior to surgery, I drank lots of fluids and ate soups.

Waking up in recovery...I had VIRTUALLY NO PAIN. When asked to rate my pain level from 1-10 (10 being the worst..I rated it a 2!!!!!!!!!)...My pain levell NEVER increased the entire time I was there.

For the sisters who are trying to get some sort of concept of the pain...I would say it is like a really bad cramp. So, if you have suffered with horrible cramps due to fibroids, etc., then perhaps you can get some sort of idea as to what my pain was like...Seriously, I had no real pain.

GAS PAINS...the same, sure they were there...but nothing really huge and painful.....

I will write more when I am able...

PAY ATTENTION TO THE DOCTORS AND NURSES, DRINK LOTS OF FLUIDS..AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL DO AS WELL AS ME!

Take care,

Lisa

Thanks for adding your account. Sometimes I think that there are too many horror stories out here, and not enough "it-went-easy" stories.

Lisa, I'm so glad your surgery went well. I'm another lucky one that had a very smooth surgery and recovery.

Be sure to rest up! I felt so good that there were a couple of times I truly wore myself out by overdoing! Let us know how your recovery progress.

Thanks for sharing your experience-- I recently learned I will have surgery feb 26 and it really helps to have your description-- makes it seem real and "redoable."

Hope you are enjoying -- well, maybe enjoying is not the right word!--hope you are very comfortable and cared for at home--

I do have experience with overdoing after surgery--don't recommend it, price is too high!

Take care and good luck.

piece of cake (hooray)

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the good news about pain and recovery. Also about drinking liquids, I am worried about "moving" problems. My TAH is scheduled for Feb. 10th and I log onto this site everyday to find out all the valuable info. I'm also worried about my energy level because now it's pretty high even though I'm 54 (work full time and have family and a Mom at home). Lot's of good luck and thanks again.
